Greatest Day and MixMyGranola Giveaway

Today is the greatest day of the year! Happy Marathon Monday!!!

Marathon Monday, as it is affectionately called in Boston, is my favorite day of the year! I absolutely love it! :-D Personally, I think Boston is an unfriendly and cranky city from November – March (maybe it’s just me?), but when Marathon Monday rolls around in mid-April, the city comes alive! Everyone is in such a great mood and the lively, holiday atmosphere (specifically along the marathon route) is like no other day– you can feel the crowd’s enthusiasm for the thousands of runners making their way to the finish line. This single day reminds me why I like living in Boston.

Boylston Street– close to the finish!

Hopkinton– near the start of the race.

Mal and me at the 2007 Boston Marathon.

Later this morning, I’m heading downtown to a Marathon party near the finish line… and, of course, to cheer on the runners. Good luck to Becca and Bobbi, who are running the Boston Marathon today!!!

Breakfast

I made a wonderful bowl of oats this morning, but I was more interested in snapping photos of my daffodils than I was breakfast!

Don’t daffodils just scream SPRING!?!

In the mix today: oats, wheatberries, ground flaxseed meal, vanilla hemp milk, peanut butter Puffins, and peanut butter. What a mix of goodies! I think the only thing that would have made this bowl better is Barney Butter! I read a little blurb in Self magazine about it yesterday, and now I am really starting to miss it!

With iced coffee and a kiwi…

MixMyGranola Giveaway

Recently, MixMyGranola gave me the opportunity to create my very own granola mix. My customized ”CNC Muesli Mix” turned out wonderful, and I’ve been enjoying it mixed into oatmeal, combined with cereal and milk, and “straight-up” right from the container. So, now it’s time for you to win a chance to make your very own customized granola!! MixMyGranola has graciously offered to donate a $20 gift certificate to one lucky winner!

Here’s how to enter:

  • Leave a comment on this post identifying one ingredient included in my CNC Muesli Mix.
  • **Bonus entry: If you have a blog of your own, add Carrots ‘N’ Cake to your blogroll and let others know about this giveaway by linking back to this post. If you do not have a blog, tell 3 of your friends/family members about this giveaway and encourage them to enter.

The deadline to enter this giveaway is Tuesday, April 21 at 11:59 PM. On Wednesday morning, I will pick one winner via the Random Integer Generator and announce him/her in my morning post. Good luck!

Question of the Day

What’s your favorite day of the year?

P.S. On April 20th last year, I was taking a red eye flight home from Vegas after one of my bachelorette parties! What a fun trip! I miss my girlies!

I think you mean daffodils, not dandelions :o ) And yes, daffodils DO make me think of spring…they are so lovely.

Funny you mention how you love marathons. ‘Cause my dad, who works in Brooklyn, NY HATES them. The NY marathon cause major traffic jams and draws business away from my dad’s shop (mechanic). Not to mention destroying your knees and hips and making you likely for knee/hip replacement surgery.

I can’t believe no-one has mentioned blueberries yet, they’re by far my favourite (and a superfood to boot!). At my Durham University we have colleges where you live during terms. Each college has a ‘college day’ where you chill, relax, laze around, drink, eat, see friends, bounce on the bouncy castle, listen to the live music, dance, chat etc etc. Anywho, my college’s day is held after exams when the weather is great and we have nothing to do for four weeks but await our results and have many, many barbecues and picnics. In other words, the perfect time to chill in the beer garden! That would have to be my favourite day of the year. (My college is technically not a ‘college’ but a ‘society’…but that’s another story).

Hey, I found your blog a few days ago and have to agree that your bowl of oatmeal looks DEEEELLLLISH! lol. Had a bowl of overnight oats this morning with almond butter and it tied me over for hours! I love your muesli mix, anything with chocolate in it is a win for me! The chocolate expresso beans must add the perfect touch to an already perfect bowl of granola. I wish you the best of luck at the marathon! Being a bostonian myself, I’ll be keeping up with all the updates :) I wish I was fit enough to actually run it…I’m up to 5 miles :) Anyway Keep up the great work and the blogging!

    P.s
The daffodils look fantastic! It’s so nice to see colors again outside haha
