I am crazy.

I registered for the National Half Marathon this morning.

Who am I?! Maybe I should worry about the Phoenix Rock ”˜N’ Roll Marathon before I start signing up for more races?!?

Honestly, I couldn’t help myself, especially since the race is turning into one big blogger get-together. Plus, now that I’m not afraid to run outside in the cold weather, it’ll be a good way to keep me motivated though the winter. I cannot wait! (Let’s just hope that I have both of my arms and legs after I finish my marathon! 😯 )

Workout

Before lunch, I headed to the gym for 60 minutes on the elliptical at an “easy/moderate” pace. I knew this workout would be a little boring, so I came prepared with a whole slew of magazines and my iPhone for entertainment.

Did you notice the magazine on top of the pile!?!

You bet I did! I have a “small” Ryan Reynolds obsession.

In my mind, we are the perfect match (except for the whole Mal-Scarlett thing). The “Sexist Man Alive” definitely kept me “entertained” during my workout! 😉

This guy did too! I also have a “small” Jake Gyllenhaal obsession.

Thanks to Ryan and Jake, my time on the elliptical went by much quicker than expected!

Lunch

Goooood lunch today! 😀

I had a baked eggplant sandwich with buffalo sauce and melted American cheese on a toasted Sandwich Thin.

Can you say YUM!?!

On the side, I had some raw carrot and celery sticks.

Now for a Maple Muesli Muffin!

See ya for dinner!

  1. I will be doing the half-marathon relay with my Aunt in Phoenix. The weather has been nice and it will be a nice run! I look forward to the post-run beer! 🙂 Good luck!

  2. I actually live in DC. I am seriously thinking about signing up. Do you think I would be able to do this if I started training now? I have never run anything. I actually consider myself to be a bad runner.

  3. I did the same thing as you with the race. I just finished my first marathon on Nov 21 in Philly (it was awesome!!) and I signed up for the half in DC the next day to celebrate my 28th birthday in DC…oh yea, I also signed up for the newport marathon next October. I think I was still on my runner’s high when I did that. Good luck with your marathon in Phoenix, it is an amazing experience.

  4. Good luck with all your upcoming training! I am signed up for a local early April half marathon. I have learned to really like colder weather running! As long as you’re properly dressed, once you get used to breathing the cold air it’s ok. Last winter was my first year running regularly outside straight through the winter. I like not overheating too much; I feel like it’s a lot easier to do speedwork!

  5. I am also going to be at the Phoenix Rock and Roll, but I am running the half and it is my first big race! I am still more nervous than excited. Keep on posting all of the AWESOME pics of Murphy! So handsome! PS I have a “small” obsession with both of those men as well. 🙂

  6. I was so excited to see that you’re going to run the National Half Marathon! I just signed up as well! I’ve been following your blog for a year now and love it. I’m a BodyPump instructor in Chicago and just ran my first marathon (Chicago 10.10.10) this past fall. I’ve loved hearing about your training and insight along the way. My thighs and butt also got bigger with training and your entry helped me view it in a much more positive light. My IT band took a toll from the 6 month long duration of training and impact on my joints that I’ve had to cut out running since the marathon but I hope to recover in time to train again in January/February for the 1/2! Keep on doing your thing. You’re a rockstar!

  7. AHHHH!!!! So excited! I am running the full marathon and I would love to meet you guys after reading your blogs for the past few years!!
