This morning, I woke up with a sore throat and “stuffy” ears. Meh. š But, otherwise, I felt great! š So, I decided to join my TNT team for a long run this morning.
First Breakfast
Before we headed out the door, Mal and I “fueled” with our usual breakfast of peanut butter + banana and iced coffees with soy milk.
We each ate a piece of cinnamon-raisin bread and half of a bagel.
Iced coffee was much-needed this morning.
Our team was scheduled to run 16 miles today, but my body just wasn’t ready for it. Usually, after 2-3 miles, my legs warm up and I’m able to truck along for the rest of the run. But, today, it never happened, and I really struggled to keep moving. My body just couldn’t do the full 16 miles, so I ran 8 miles and called it quits for the day.
- Mile 1: 9:27
- Mile 2: 9:10
- Mile 3: 8:59
- Mile 4: 9:24
- Mile 5: 9:29
- Mile 6: 9:22
- Mile 7: 9:11
- Mile 8: 9:32
Total: 1:15:10
I was a little bummed that I couldn’t make it the whole way, but I didn’t want to push it. I’m sick of being sick, so 8 miles was plenty for today.
Second Breakfast
After our team run, we were treated to Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and bagels! š
Mmm… coffee.
Mmm… bagels. I immediately gobbled one up with cream cheese.
We also received $5 D&D gift cards for our participation today. Sweet!
Mal and I are off to run a zillion errands, but we have nothing on the agenda for tonight. Thank goodness. We both need some R & R.
Enjoy the day, folks! š

you are so pretty Tina!
Aw, feel better Tina. We are all still putting up the good fight here too! Get some rest and I hope it is a good day!
Nice job with getting some mileage in…You’ll feel better soon, I am sure! Have a good, productive day with the husband š
I hope you feel 100% by later today! Have a great weekend – that is such a great picture of you guys. š
Love the new haircut š
Wow, 8 miles is still a long way, especially for someone who is sick! I hope you’re better and back on track soon.
Tina, I’m constantly in awe of your ability to make decisions based solely on YOUR preferences and what’s best for YOU. I’m sure I speak for many when I say I wish I could be more like that.
Get well soon!
Feel better soon!
8 miles is still amazing! feel better soon
You are smart to listen to your body!!

Feel better soon.
And aren’t bagels just the best thing ever? I love Panera Bread bagels inordinately so!!
Hope you’re feeling better, Tina! Good thing it didn’t keep you from having a great run. š
WHY WON’T THEY BRING DUNKIN DONUTS TO THE WEST COAST?!?
sorry, didn’t mean to yell at YOU tina, i know you’re not responsible!
The Box ‘O Joe makes me so happy (read: jealous) I could weep :).
Sorry you couldn’t do the full 16 miles, but really, 8 miles is pretty fantastic. Especially when still feeling under the weather!
I’m not a huge donut person, but your D&D cards bum me out. As it states above, there are no Dunkin Donuts in California. It was something that always really bummed my stepfather (a Boston native) out.
When I went back east for the first time in 2006, I made a game out of taking a picture of every single Dunkin’ Donuts location I passed. My friends thought I was nutzo! š
Feel better!!! 8 miles is wonderful for being sick!
What was Mal’s time for the 16 miles?
I think that was smart to do 8 instead of 16. I really think running the half last weekend when you had a fever the day before probably annoyed your body a bit and you don’t want to do that again this weekend š (it’s more worth it for a race in my opinion).
Tina good for you for stopping at 8 — I am fighting a cold this week and I know that if I were to overdo it, I would be very sick. Smart choice!
i think it’s great to listen to your body and not push it. feel better soon, take lots of vitamin C!!
8 miles is amazing for being sick! Your body will get better!
That’s a nice surprise at the end of your run.
I’m so looking forward to the day that 8 miles is a low-mileage day for me!
Wow, kudos for cranking out 8 miles even when you’re feeling sick!
Sorry–new reader and have been wondering for awhile if you have a ‘special recipe’ that you use for your daily iced coffees or do you just brew/press a pot and stick it in the fridge? That’s what I do but I didn’t know if you had some tasty trick…
Thanks!

@Alison: Check my FAQs. There’s a photo tutorial there! š

A very good run, despite your being sick! Feel better!
Good for you only doing 8 when you weren’t feeling well. I’m sure taking it easy on yourself will only help you get back to 100% again very soon. Hugs & feel better.
yum, i love dunkin donuts!
Love how you and Mal do everything together–so fun!
This may seem crazy… but What do you put in your iced coffee?
@Meg: Soy milk.
