Sweet & Salty

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

I love my husband. But, this morning, when he told me that he ran 4 miles in 30:22, I sort of hated him. That’s a 7:35 pace! Who is this freak of nature!?! He doesn’t even like running!! Not fair.

Mal headed out the door for his run as soon as he woke up, but I dilly-dallied around the house and took Murphy for a walk before I went for my run. I finished in 36:16, which is a 9:04 pace. It’s no 7:35 pace, but it’s pretty good for me! 😀

When I returned home, Murphy licked me to death. He loves my salty sweat! 😉

He proceeded to follow me all over the house while I stretched, Tiger Tailed, and rehydrated. He wouldn’t stop licking me!! Murphy is a freak of nature, too! 😉

Isn’t he sweet? 😉

For breakfast, I made a Van’s waffle with peanut butter and chia seeds on top.

On the side, I had a pink grapefruit.

And, of course, iced coffee with soy milk.

I’m heading to NuVal later this morning. (Yes, I still work there!) I mostly work from home now, but I go into the office once a week or so. I just haven’t been there in awhile this time. I hope everyone remembers me! 😉

Question of the Day

What is the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to you?

P.S. Don’t forget about our raffle to support TNT and win a custom banner for your blog or website. You could win a whole new look for just $5!

  1. Sweetest thing anyone has said to me? It’s a tie between:

    1. “You look like a princess.”
    2. “Sit down on the grass, mama. I want to hold your hand, mama.”

Both 1 and 2 were said by my almost 3 year old son 🙂 Of course with every sweet comment, there is a sour comment. But I try to forget those!

  2. Men are just so much faster than women naturally. It’s not fair, I agree!! At least we’re all in it together, right?

Sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me is probably I love you. Those words are all anyone wants to hear 🙂

Hope you have a great day!

  3. My cat does the same thing. Weird. And I have the same problems w/ my bf! He was complaining last night that he might not be able to run the sub 7 min miles he was hoping for in next week’s race…. oh brother!! 🙂

  4. wowza he is fast!! maybe he is going fast so he can be done with his run asap 😉

I think there was a pug in my dream last night because I read your blog before I went to bed last night…wierd

  5. Men have huge lung capacities. They can just run. It’s amazing! Once when I was training for a 10k my brother (who smokes btw) decided to join me. I laughed thinking he would never keep up, but he totally outran me, barely raised a sweat and lit a cigarette at the end…. freak of nature… 🙂

  6. Hi, I regularly read your blog and I was wondering if I ask could ask a couple of questions:

-Why do you use chia seeds instead of, say, flax seeds? I see them all over the blogosphere and I’m not sure why they’re more popular than other seeds.

-And, I want to get into more long distance running and am looking for a GPS receiver to track my distance, pace and other stats. Do you recommend the Forerunner 305?

  7. Tina you and Mal are super fast! I would love to run 1 mile at 7:35, much less 4 miles at that pace!

The sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me? Probably when my husband told me that I will be a great mom to our children one day. (He never talks about having kids, so this was huge!)

  8. holy. COW. my boyfriend played football all through college, but he’s not exactly a runner. then he got a new job in law enforcement and had to run 6 miles his first day….and KICKED BUTT. i was floored. i guess that’s what being naturally athletic does to you!

  9. You’re a great runner Tina! I couldn’t even run that fast. At the moment I’m drawing a blank when trying to think of the sweetest thing that anyone has said to me. I’ll have to get back to you, 😉

  10. My dog does the same thing and licks my legs after running. I think they like the salt that we sweat out. I didn’t realize your so fast! Speedy 🙂

  11. I think I got many of the sweetest things said to me yesterday. I launched my 30 Days of Self Love on my blog and just the outpouring of comments and emails saying they believe in the process and are excited for it meant the world. To have something you are so passionate about be uplifted by others cannot be beat! Here’s a link to the page if you’re interested in checking it out. I would be honored.

And don’t you just hate how so many fitness things can come so easily to men? Grrr!

  12. someone stopped me in the airport as I was walking in said…”you are absolutely stunning” It was so thoughtful and sweet..I was running to catch a flight..and just smiled…I sort of regret that part.

  13. The sweetest thing ever said – well, it wasn’t said to me. My dad said it to my mom on their 35th wedding anniversary. He said”There are times when she walks into a room and I still find it hard to breathe.” I started tearing up like crazy. They’ve now been together 41 years and I know he still feels the same way.

  14. Wow you both are having great runs! I think thats so fun that you are training together! I think one of the sweetest things anyone has said to me was when my little brother told me I looked fun again and pretty when I came home from treatment for an eating disorder. He was only 5 at the time and did not know why I was away but he could tell when I returned home that I had life back in me and I started crying the second he said that to me.

  15. Haha he better be starting to like it more now that he knows how good he is at it! That’s how my ex was too, and he chain smoked! It made me so mad!
