I have a confession: I REALLY like step aerobics. Ok, I don’t like it as much as Body Pump or running, but it’s a close third when it comes to my favorite workouts.
After breakfast, I headed to the gym to try a new Step & Strength class. The first 40 minutes was devoted to step and the remaining 20 minutes to strength training and core work. It was a fast-paced class with a super energetic instructor and awesome tunes. Basically, the music was the Lady Gaga station on Pandora, but remixed into workout music. I loved it and totally geeked-out to the choreography! 😉
I had a blast bouncing around, flailing my arms, and exercising my body in a different way. By the end of class, I was dripping in sweat and pretty exhausted. I forgot that step aerobics is such a great workout!
Even still, I couldn’t help but notice that I was easily the youngest person in the class. Of course, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this, but it made me think that the step aerobics trend has passed?
I started taking step aerobics classes when I was 16-years-old and continued to take them in college. When I moved to Boston, I took step classes here and there, but, over the years, it’s become harder and harder to find classes. Maybe it’s just the gyms that I’ve joined, but has anyone else noticed this same thing? Do you take regular step aerobics classes? Has this workout trend passed? Is Zumba the new Step?
When I got home from the gym, I quickly showered and grabbed a Nature’s Path Berry Strawberry granola bar to snack on. (It was just okay.) I had about 30 minutes to go grocery shopping and get myself to the dentist, so I had to make my time at home as quick as possible.
At the dentist, I had two cavities filled, which means that I have two more to go! 😕
By the time I got home, I was more than ready to eat lunch. I was in the mood for something cheesy, so I made a homemade pizza using a whole wheat pizza dough from Wildtree. The dough called for just two ingredients: warm water and grapeseed oil.
Please note the label on the grapeseed oil: Butter Flavor Grapeseed Oil. Um, yea, I have a feeling that this oil will come in handy in the future! 😉
I topped the pizza dough with marinara sauce, shredded cheddar, green bell pepper, onion, and black olives. I also added some Garlic Gold nuggets to the dough. Holy yum! 😀
On the side, I had a homemade salad.
And roasted acorn squash with melted butter, cinnamon, and maple syrup. Mmm!
I’ve been running around all morning, so it’s time to buckle down and get to work!
See ya for dinner! 😎
