How awesome are weekends?!? They make me so happy! Just sayin. š
Once we got ourselves together, Mal and I drove about 30 minutes away to check out a coffee table that we saw on Craigslist. Before we moved, we sold/donated a lot of our furniture, so now we’re trying to piece together our new house with stuff from our parents, the Goodwill, yard sales, and Craigslist. It’s actually a lot of fun. I like the thrill of the hunt! š
The coffee table was priced fairly and in great shape.
So into the car it went! š
It was a done deal!
On the ride home, Mal and I made a pit-stop at Dunkin’ Donuts and put our new gift cards to work. I ordered a “light-on-the-pumpkin-spice” iced coffee with milk.
I was wide awake ( šÆ )Ā after drinking my third coffee of the day, but the car ride made the pug very sleepy.
Once home, we tested out our new coffee table with our living room decor.

I love it!!!
Now, we just need a TV stand, dining room table with chairs, and a bed for the guest room. Our house is getting there, slowly but surely.
Snack
With our brand new coffee table in place, Mal and I set out for a long walk with the pug. Before I left the house, I grabbed an apple to snack on.
We walked with the pug for well over an hour while exploring the nearby “downtown” area. I miss our old neighborhood, but I’m really starting to like the new one. Slowly, but surely.
Dinner
Currently, our kitchen is pretty pathetic in terms of food, so I made use of the Hickory Farms gift box for dinner once again tonight. I mean, cheese isn’t a terrible option, right? š
I spread Sweet Hot Mustard on a whole grain Dunkin’ Donuts bagel (leftover from this morning) and melted Creamy Swiss Blend cheese on top. Mmm! Awesome flavor combo!
Unfortunately, I forgot to snap a photo of my bagel deliciousness, but, trust me, it was a good one!
After dinner, I dug into a couple ofĀ Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Balls,Ā and now I am enjoying a beer on the couch with M & m.
Looks like tonight is going to be another early bedtime. I’m pooped!
G’night! š

That is a very cute table. I love when you get a good find.
The table looks awesome, as do those pretty red leaves!
Where’s the rug from??
Love the new table! Sorry you’re not used to the new neighborhood yet, the scenery looks beautiful though! š
@Theodora: Ikea. We bought it last weekend: http://carrotsncake.com/2010/11/we-did-it-all.html
Love the new table, it definitely brightens up the room!! Weekends are the best for adventures and home renovations š Enjoy your evening and beer+Murph š
@Tina:
Thanks! I’m moving in a few weeks and looking for a rug that is both cute AND cheap so that I don’t feel too bad if my dog messes it up.
Love the new coffee table — very rustic. It’s so fun bringing a house together, one piece at a time.
I love that the coffee table has a drawer for your remote. Good to keep the table clean and good to not tempt Murph, although he would never eat a remote control.
I swear, we’ve been living on our Hickory Farms gift box since Thursday! It’s fantastic!
I’m with you on the “thrill of the hunt” for new furniture… it’s so much fun š
The new coffee table looks great! Hickory Farms is the bomb.
Oh my, where did you get the butterbeer mug?! Or maybe you told us in today’s earlier posts… I should stop readin them in reverse order š
@Hannah: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando.
Love Murphy’s big eyes in that photo. Gus is always right up in our faces whenever we eat or drink. Glad we’re not alone š
I’m loving what you are doing with the new house! Also love the Butterbeer mug–guess I better go to Harry Potter in Orlando!
hope you guys are having a great weekend! <3
LOVE that mug and lovelove the pictures of murphy. i just want to hug him š
xoxo
Nice table! Looks like your going to have a nice night with your guys. Murph is such a cutie š
Oh, I love your new coffee table! And that last pic of Murphy is sooo adorable!
Looks like the house is coming along nicely š
Coffee table looks good, and great a drawer to hide away remote controls, deck of cards etc š
just in case, don’t buy any used bedding or upholstery items with the bed bug situation sweeping North America !ugh!
I used to enjoy staying in hotels, but no longer -eeek!(I have heard of some of the finest hotels as well as clothing stores and furniture stores having the creatures….
Those red leaves are gorgeous!!!
The coffee table is super cute — it looks like one that Pier 1 used to carry. And I love the little drawer for remotes, etc. I hate having stuff sit all over the place!
Weekends are all about keepin’ it easy – the dinner still sounds delish!
It’s another early night for me this weekend too…but I LOVE it! š
I’m loving on my weekends lately too – especially this one. I got a lot done yesterday right after work so it felt like I had gotten a “head start” on all my housework. Yahoo!
Love that leaves picture with the fence!!
Glad you love the nw table- it sure looks great!!
Its amazing what you can find on Craislist these days! I agree it is tons of fun to go “on the hunt!”
i like your new coffee table!
i love finding a steal like that table…it looks perfect with y’alls existing furniture!
Nice coffee table. Looks like pine wood which is one of my favorite types of finishes. I agree that making a house your ‘home’ is so much fun. I love watching the transformation and knowing that it’s the fruit of your labor.
I love that picture with all the red leaves surrounding the fence, amazing!
Your pug is precious looking too! I have sharpeis and think the wrinkly faces are just adorable!
I love the red leaves too! I miss the Northeast! We don’t get a single red leaf in Florida š
Love the new coffee table! š Although I really like the idea of using a trunk for a table too. Are you going to use that trunk somewhere else in your house now?
Aren’t home improvement weekends THE BEST??? I am currently buried in overhauling my living room and dining room. My honey is so grumpy about it, but unlike him, I am lovin’ life. It’s not work to me to breath new life into things. Great table! Such a simple little thing that will bring you happy feelings for months.
I am so with you on the “light on the pumpkin spice” idea! I try to make chai tea with almond milk at home as much as I can but sometimes I am really craving good ol Starbucks and their pumpkin spice lattes – decaf of course! But they put soooo much flavor in if you don’t ask them not to. That’s so key to remember!!! P.S. I love your dog.
I love the red leaves! Such beautiful pictures! We miss out on the season changes here in Houston.
I have to share with you Cesar’s “PUG” story. The minute I saw it I thought of you. LOL

The link is long because I took it out of my email but honest it’s to Cesar’s site & harmless. I’m on my way out the door but I’d copy and repaste it with the “normal” url otherwise! I knew I’d forget though if I didn’t share now!!!!! ENJOY!
Although I DO like the trunk as a coffee table, the real table looks nice, too! (;
The table looks great with the wood floors! I am a fan of the look of the trunk, too, though. Maybe you can change them up seasonally if you get tired of one or the other.
love the butterbeer mug! i just came across a recipe for some:
http://bakingdom.blogspot.com/2010/11/butterbeer-oh-yeah-butterbeer.html
Those leaves are gorgeous!
I wish the seasons really changed in San Francisco the way they do in other parts of the country. Here, there really aren’t smooth beautiful transitions. It’s one of the only things I dislike about living here.
LOVE the table! And that last picture of Murphy is adorable!
It must be so lovely seeing your new home come together – even if it’s slowly but surely!
Oh and in my opinion, cheese is ALWAYS a good option! š
Sounds like a great day! Get some rest š
Cute table!!! I am loving the box from Hickory Farms!! Everything is delicious so far!!!
Jen
oooh cute table indeed!!!!
your living room looks awesome!!! Great job hunting down that coffee table!
Hahaha Murphy looks very concerned with your drink of choice!
We bought the same rug this weekend! At the store it looked like it would go perfectly with our bedroom decor, but I wasn’t sure. My husband said for $20 we can find somewhere else to put it if it doesn’t. Fortunately it matched our duvet cover perfectly. <3 Ikea.
oh my gosh, i love that picture of murphy
