Sharing My News

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

So, I had planned to tell you guys my news this morning, but I slept late and didn’t have time to write this post. I’ve told a few people my good news, but I wasn’t able to announce it to the blogworld until now– and it was a really hard to secret to keep!

You guys remember when I went to New York City a few weeks ago, right? Well, it was to meet with a PUBLISHER.

1704875109_c2978e623d_o1So, some of you guessed correctly! I got a book deal and…

I AM WRITING A BOOK!!!!

My book will hit shelves in Spring 2011. Ahhh, a real live book! I still can’t believe this is really happening!

The book is going to be a healthy lifestyle guide based off many ideas from Carrots ‘N’ Cake (i.e. Cookie Friday). But, the contents of the book will be entirely new material, so while you’ll still see my daily posts on CNC, I’ll also be writing brand-spankin’ new content for my book. The book will be about 250 pages and sold at Barnes and Noble.

So, how did this all happen?

Like Jenna, the publishing company contacted me through my blog. The email seemed so random and far-fetched, I almost deleted it! I mean, who would want me to write a book?!? And, to be honest, writing a book wasn’t really on my radar. But, the more I thought about the idea, the more excited I got about it. Plus, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I’d be crazy to turn it down!

After a number of conversations with the Editorial Director at the publishing company, I submitted a book proposal… and waited patiently.

A couple of weeks past and I still hadn’t heard anything, so I figured that I just wasn’t cut-out to write a book. But then, I received an email inviting me to New York City to discuss my proposal in person! The experience was nerve-racking and exciting, but once I met with the publishing team, I knew that I wanted to write a book.

Only a few days after my trip to NYC, I received a formal offer to write my book!!! I can’t believe that I am going to be a book author! I’m still freaking out about it!

If you had told me even just a year ago that I would write a book in my lifetime, I would have never believed you. I feel so very fortunate to have this amazing opportunity, and it’s crazy to think what my little ol’ blog has done for me. It gives me faith that good things really do happen to people who work hard.

  1. congrats tina! such great news – i’m quite envious of you all with your book deals, and wondering how you got all the little freelance writing jobs you also have [like for] – did they come to you or did you contact them first?

  2. i got cut off again! lol. but really, congratulations. you deserve this. you have one of the best food philosophies. i rarely hear you justify or feel the need to defend your food choices and i think that is awesome. there is no good or bad food on this blog. just food and your balanced choices. i love that!

  3. I know I already emailed you to tell you congrats, but I had to post something about it! I think it is awesome that you are getting the opportunity to write a book-it’s an ultimate goal for me so maybe one day I would be lucky enough to publish my own book too! Congrats! 🙂

  4. OMG ~ I am finally catching up on your blog today (since work has kept me SOOO busy after the festival) and what AWESOME news to read!!! I am so excited for you and LOVE that you are writing a book. I really think that all your writing for CNC, newspapers and magazines is paying off.

yeah!!! so excited for you ~ you truly deserve everything you work so hard for.

  5. So awesome! You totally deserve and can do this! But I want to know too — are those your bookshelves? They are awesome and PERFERCTLY color coded! 😉

  6. I’m SOOO happy for you!!! I TOLD you should have wrote a book and I think it was exactly a year ago. HA! Glad you finally listened. :p

  7. OMG what a WONDERFUL opportunity! Remember I do professional book reviews for a living so if you would ever want a pro book review I’d be happy to do a gratuitous version! Either you or your publisher can send me a copy, or if they want to do it through my company & pay you can contact me directly via email too! Just remind me who you are and what I offered! LOL

I’m so excited for you! Welcome to the world of publishing!

  8. I’ve been out of town and away from the computer for a while, but just wanted to say congrats on your book deal! All the bloggers are getting book deals! Can’t wait to hear about the journey and buy the book in a couple years!

  9. This is so inspirational for me to read! I want to write a book more than anything — it’s my dream! I wish you and your book all the success in the world! Congrats! You should be so proud of yourself!

  10. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are such an inspiration to me! I love to start my day (and many times end it) reading your blog. I am excited to read your book. I already am thinking of the friends that will be getting it for birthday presents, etc.!!!
