Life’s Short”¦

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Good morning! Happy Monday!

My day started off with the creamiest bowl of oatmeal ever. I honestly can’t remember a bowl of oatmeal like this one in a long time.

In the mix:

  • 1 banana
  • 1/3 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup liquid egg whites
  • 1/3 cup almond milk
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed meal

I added all of the ingredients to a pot on the stovetop, and then cooked (and stirred) it until it was warm and creamy.

And, of course, breakfast included a glass of iced coffee with soy milk.

Question of the Day

Today’s Question of the Day is inspired by this photo:

What is your “life’s short”¦” motto?

  1. I live near the area where the huge Florida highway disaster just happend, it really does make you think about how short life is, and how it can be taken away in an instant. Life is short, appreciate it while you can.

  2. Ha, love that!! I think my motto would be really pretty close to that one! I have a quick question about your oats–can you taste the egg? I know it adds a lot of staying power but I’d be afraid the oats would be egg-y.

  3. Oh lawd, I love this. I just wrote a guest post, and talked about funny, food related inspirational quotes on healthy living bloggers sites.

I do want a damn cookie. Actually, I want a brownie. A spicy one.

  4. Great post! Had to laugh because I was reading it while eating my oatmeal. One addition is to add a scoop of protein powder to increase protein level even more in addition to a healthy sprinkling of cinnamon which can then increase metabolism.

Really enjoy your site and look forward to more great information!

  5. My favorite new is “I intend to win”. I love it, we started a challange at work to lose weight. It runs Jan 16thru April 14th. I have lost 8.4lbs so far. I am taking that. 4. Lol

  6. What do you think made your oatmeal so creamy this morning? I want the secret. I like the motto, life’s too short to drink bad wine. I also think, life’s short, so do what you love right now! This is definitely one I came to realize just recently when I quit my job that I hated in order to pursue my true dream. I’ve never been happier and never once regretted making that huge decision.

  7. Great site, Tina! And thanks for the new oatmeal recipe – I’ll definitely have to try it tomorrow morning.

My life’s short quote is “Don’t forget to smile!”. I enjoy cheering on runners with these words. To me, it’s important that we don’t take everything so seriously..have fun and enjoy the trip.

  8. Hey Tina!

Is there a way to make this oatmeal sans banana? I LOVE the sound of it, but can’t eat bananas…..any creative ideas???

  9. Oo I like ‘life’s short’ quotes, I’ll play – ‘life’s too short to be anything but happy” is a fave of mine, as is ‘life’s too short for erasers, just a draw a line through it and move on.’ Also -love egg whites in oatmeal, the make for the perfect puffiness without treading into eggy-tasting territory 🙂
