I Don’t Celebrate Black Friday

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

I know there are amazing deals to be had today, but I would rather die than step into a shopping establishment on Black Friday. I love to shop, but not when there are crazy crowds in the stores, so I don’t celebrate Black Friday.

This morning, Mal and I woke up early and headed straight to our favorite bagel shop for breakfast. I ordered an egg and cheese sandwich on a sunflower seed bagel. I also drank an iced coffee with milk and sugar, but I never snapped a photo of it. (FYI: Sunflower seed bagel = awesome! 😀 )

After breakfast, I met my sister for a facial and a massage. She bought me a Groupon for my 30th birthday back in June, so we finally took advantage of it today.

Both services were absolutely fabulous and soooo relaxing. I actually fell asleep during the facial! A day at the spa was such a treat! 😀

While my sister and I got pampered, the guys (Mal and my sister’s husband, Pat) took Murphy and Batman to the dog park to run around.

I’m so glad that I didn’t have to deal with this mess! 😉

The pups were pooped after the park.

While the dogs rested, we went to lunch at On the Border, which is my sister and Pat’s favorite restaurant. (Please note my sister’s fist pump in the photo below! 😆 )

We started with chips and salsa. The salsa had a serious kick to it! 😯

While we waited for our food, my sister and I attempted to get a photo together. I was in a wacky mood today! 😆

For lunch, I had two chicken tacos with black beans and rice.

And a side house salad with honey mustard on the side. The food was tasty, but it was your typical chain restaurant fare.

Even still, I made a serious dent in both dishes!

Mal just turned on the Christmas music! We’re building a fire and baking holiday cookies tonight!

Did you take advantage of the Black Friday deals or did you stay far, far, far away?

  1. I do not celebrate Black Friday either. I’ve done it twice in my life (and I also used to work in retail and always worked Black Friday). The chaos, the stampeding people…no thanks!!!! I’d rather stay home and spend a little more money shopping on a different day. 🙂
