Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Hi, friends. I’m having a tough time over here. One of my friends passed away suddenly and unexpectedly yesterday. His passing is not something I want to openly discuss on CNC, but I want to let you guys know since things might not seem super upbeat in the coming days, but I’ll try my best.

With that said, here are some pretty photos of my breakfast.

One of my friend’s favorite Dave Matthews Band songs was “Granny.” We used to blast it on repeat and jam out together. I always think of him when I hear this song.

Hello how are you doing today
I hope I find you feeling healthy
I’m so glad our paths crossed this time today

On our way into the night
We find love it’s hiding here
In the darkness in the shadows
Maybe it’s up to you and I
To bring it to the light
Love when I approach the tears
They fall like rain
You tell me baby your hearts into a thousand pieces

Now stop only old and wise with clouded eyes
You can’t see what I can, when I
Blindly throw my faith to the face
Of the next good thing to comes my way

So here we are all of us stand around
We’re leaning heavy on each other
Always wondering what is it that lies behind
The worried eyes of one another

Well I believe it’s love that’s hiding here
deep inside both you and me.
Maybe it’s up to you and me to share it with the light
Love when I approach the tears they fall like rain
You tell me baby your heart’s into a thousand pieces

And I stop only old and wise with clouded eyes
You can’t see what I can, cause’ I
Blindly throw my faith to the face
Of the next good thing that comes my way

I say it’s love that’s lacking here
Although I know enough to spare
Maybe you and I could spread it large and wide
Love with my approach the tears they fall like rain
You tell me baby your heart’s into a thousand pieces

Give your loved ones a big hug today. Life is too short.

  1. I’m so sorry about your friend. There really are no words to make anyone feel better at a time like this but playing his favorite song and thinking of happy times together does help a little.

    Take care.

  2. I’m so sorry Tina. I know what it feels like to lose someone unexpectedly and it’s like becoming a member of a club no one wants to be in. I hope you’re able to find strength through this hard time, but realize it’s OK to let go, too. Thinking of you!

  3. Just wanted you to know that I am praying for you and the family of your friend. So sorry for your loss….

  4. I’m sorry for the loss of your friend. It isn’t easy and I hope you’re ok with time. Honor your friend and give yourself the appropriate amount of time to mourn the loss of a loved one.

“God be with you till we meet again.”

  5. So sorry for your lost…. another great DMB song comes to mind

“…rest high above the clouds, no restrictions…”

hope you are finding comfort in your friends and family.

  6. Oh, no. 🙁 no worries on whether things are upbeat- sometimes life doesn’t work out that way. Just wanted to add to the list of people who are thinking about you and your friend. Hang in there.

  7. i’m so sorry for your loss… that is a beautiful song. i hope over time it will still be a sweet memory of him. i know for the sake of blogs, people force the happy so they’re readers stay happy… but just know you don’t have to fake it too much. you’re hurting, and we’re sorry.

  8. Oh darling, you poor thing. I have a friend who’s dealing with cancer in a serious, final way, and a few years back had a friend pass away unexpectedly too. So many, many hugs your way.

  9. So sorry to hear about your friend passing! Losing anyone special in your life is not easy & your blog friends/readers are thinking about you 🙁

  10. Very sorry to hear about your friend, Tina. Grief is so difficult to come to terms with because it’s such a unique and individual experience, but I hope that you are comforted by the friends and strangers, alike, who are keeping you/his family in their thoughts & prayers. Wishing you well!

  11. My thoughts and prayers go out to you hun. It is never easy when someone you love and care for deeply passes away. You’ve got the memories of you together to keep forever and always, as well as a new angel to watch over you. Stay strong sweety!

  12. This is such a strange coincidence that I wanted to share. Last night I was revisiting old DMB songs on YouTube. While listening to Granny, I inexplicably started weeping. My husband asked what was wrong and I said I had no idea, I was just overcome with emotion. I’ll take that as a sign that he’s in a better place. I’m so sorry for your loss. I wish you comfort in the memories of his friendship. As far as your loved ones here with you now, just remember: “Celebrate we will for life is short but sweet for certain.”
