I’m off to Washington, DC this morning. I’m taking part in a food-focused exploration of the city, sponsored by Foodbuzz and Destination DC.
Several weeks ago, Foodbuzz emailed their Tastemakers about a foodie tour with Destination DC and asked interested bloggers to apply for it. It sounded like a great opportunity and figured I had nothing to lose, so I applied and hoped for the best. A few weeks later, I was selected (along with two other bloggers) for the trip! Wahoo! I’m so glad that I applied! Obviously, I am psyched. So, that’s what I am doing in DC for the next few days.
[rewind to 6:15 this morning]
Mom, what’s this?
It looks like your suitcase”¦
Mom! You’re leaving me!!!
Poor Murphy didn’t want me to leave this morning. He followed me around the house with the most pathetic/bugged-out face all morning long. I told him I’d be back on Friday night, but he still seemed bummed.
Eventually, I had to say goodbye to the pug. Then, I grabbed my things, hopped in the car with Mal, and he drove me to the commuter rail. (Wasn’t I just there?)
Commuter rail —> South Station.
South Station —> Silver Line —> Airport.
At the airport, I flew through security (love that) and grabbed an iced latte. I didn’t sleep very well last night (due to my usual anxiety about missing my flight), so I definitely needed some caffeine this morning. Give me coffeeee!
Maybe I’m weird, but I love these tube-like sugar packets. They’re a lot more fun than rectangular sugar packets. Plus, they always remind me of my semester abroad in England, so that’s fun, too.
For breakfast, I ate a peanut butter and banana sandwich on toasted whole wheat (toast travels better than bread) with an iced non-fat latte with a packet of (fun) sugar mixed in.
