A Time of Giving

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Happy Thanksgiving Week!

What better way to celebrate this time of giving than by providing a turkey to a family in need. Just $16 provides a 12 to 14-lb turkey to a family who is struggling this holiday season. You can make a general donation to the Turkey Drive or register to form a team and encourage your family, friends and coworkers to get involved, too!

This morning’s breakfast was an oldie, but goodie: banana oats with ground flaxseed meal and Chia Charger nut butter.

Be Thankful Challenge

I’m thankful for all of the (random, yet awesome) opportunities that have come my way in recent months. They continue to surprise me and surpass all of my expectations and life goals.

Question of the Day

How have you given back lately?

  1. I’ve found that sometimes, just saying “thank you” for little things that people do — bag my groceries, recommend my artwork to someone, or when my husband helps me with breakfast — those little things mean so much and it makes me feel good to be able to just vocally give back by telling people that they’re appreciated.
I’m trying hard to stay on schedule for my workouts, too — I might even get to the gym on Thursday — it’s open from 7-12!

  2. i just purchased a bunch of warm fleece blankets to donate to our local animal shelter. when the weather gets cold in chicago, the dogs need extra blankets to keep warm. it was not a lot, but hopefully the pups will be a little more comfortable this winter.

  3. I just filled a box for Operation Christmas Child, a charitable cause that I give to every year that provides Christmas gifts for children in less fortunate countries. I’m also planning to do a food bank donation this weekend. Happy Thanksgiving week!

  4. I have not yet done anything for the holiday season but plan on donating some toys to the local Christmas bureau and I am involved with a fundraiser for the local women’s shelter too. I love giving back, especially during this time of the year!

  5. I’m happy to see you consider a 30 minute powerwalk exercise too! I used to think I had to have sweat pouring down my face to check a workout off the list but now a couple powerwalks a week help balance out the runs and cross-training!

  6. I’m having a stressful day at work and I opened your blog because I knew it would bring some quick happiness. It worked! Wanted to say thanks!

  7. Last weekend (or the weekend before?) I went down to the salvation army to sort food for their pre-Thanksgiving drive! Lots of cranberry sauce, gravy, and cornbread mix as well as the usual non-perishables–25,000 lbs of it in fact! Yup, you read that right 🙂

  8. I spent yesterday morning helping out at the MSPCA. I try to go every weekend, and will be spending Thanksgiving morning volunteering as well. They tend to be short-staffed on holidays, so they need all the help they can get.

  9. At my work, we collected canned food items to donate to a food bank. At my work we are divided into teams. My team brought in a huge amount of food! I sure hope it helps 🙂

  10. My company does a “give back” program where you get to make donations to the charity of your choice so I just did that. I love to help wherever possible. I also gave a homeless man my leftovers from a way-too-large dinner the other night. It made me happy knowing he’d have food in his belly at least for that night.

  11. Donated a bunch to Howard Brown this weekend (although I feel like purging is almost more of a selfish act for me.) We used to donate to Salvation Army but I realized recently that unfortunately their beliefs don’t jibe with mine, but I was glad to find another local place where our stuff can go to good use.
