Quick and Easy Bathroom Update

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Remember a couple of weeks ago when Mal and I made a huge list of home improvement projects that we wanted to do and then went to town on them? Well, one of the projects that I forgot to blog about was repainting our bathroom. It was a quick and easy update.

Mal and I didn’t hate the color of the walls in our bathroom (which came with the house), but we didn’t love it either. It just seemed kind of dated and a little too dark for such a tiny room, so we wanted to brighten it up with a different color.

First, we primed the walls.

Not surprisingly, the pug wanted to be close to the action.

A little too close.

Eventually, we banished Murphy to the bedroom, so we didn’t end up with white paw prints all over the house.

Priming the walls took no time at all since the trim and ceiling were white too. Mal and I just slapped it up there.

Done. It took us less than an hour.

Once we finished, Mal went to wash the paint brushes in the kitchen while I cleaned up the bathroom and put away the paint. I put the lid on the paint can, hammered it down with a screwdriver, and, to my surprise, paint splattered everywhere!! Oops!

Thankfully, I already planned to buy a new shower curtain. (I swear, the beer had nothing to do with it. I’m just stupid.)

Here’s how you’re suppose to close a paint can:

The next day, we painted.

At first, I thought the color was a little too dark, but it dried much lighter. Thank goodness!

The finished product!

I love it! It’s a lot more cheery, right?

I still hate the vanity and sink, but it’s one of the next projects on our list! 😉

  1. Whoa – dude! I have the same bathroom tile on the walls AND floor that you have. At first I was wondering, “Why does she have pictures of my bathroom up?…” Seriously – down to the matching soap dish, toothbrush holder and towel rods. Wacky. If you ever drop by and need to use my bathroom you’ll feel right at home!

  2. aww that looks so lovely. i had a lot of adventures in trying to find the right green for our bedroom. It took 4 attempts. I am excited it only took you one. Hope for my next attempt. haha.

  3. Great job! Love the paint color, the shower curtain is so cheery. We just renovated our bathroom, I hated our vanity and sink too.

  4. We are in the midst of a bathroom makeover, too! Unfortunately, ours is in month six, but who’s counting?!

Instead of replacing our vanity (we have double sinks and a new double vanity was way out of our budget right now) we painted the existing one. It went from 1980s medium oak to white in no time! It was quick, easy and inexpensive. Try it on your vanity before you replace it.

  5. I love the new color! The shower curtain combined with the new color really makes your bathroom pop! Neutral Earth tone colors are also a favorite of mine. Painting can be a chore, but its super fun! Very well done you guys!
