Today was a nice day away from my desk! I left my house at 2:00 this afternoon and didn’t return until after 10:00 PM. It’s crazy how time flies when you’re having fun (and celebrating the holidays)!
After lunch, I drove out to my mom’s house to help her sort through the abundance of Christmas decorations at her new home. As you may remember, she moved into a mobile home this past September, which meant that she needed to seriously downsize the amount of Christmas decorations in her possession.
My mom’s place was totallydecked out in holiday décor when I arrived. Even if she wanted to put out more decorations, there was nowhere to put them!
Every inch of her home was covered!
While we waited for my sister to arrive, my mom and I munched on some veggies and dip to hold us over until dinnertime.
Once my sister arrived, everyone was hungry, so we ate dinner before sorting through the decorations.
My mom served homemade Eggplant Parmesan with buttery garlic bread.
Both were excellent!
For dessert, I enjoyed a couple of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.
Then, it was time to get to work!
My mom had about ten boxes of decorations that needed to be organized. My sister and I helped her sort through them and found a bunch of goodies to take home with us.
I ended up with a whole bag full of decorations! (My mom was more than happy to get rid of them!)
A little while later, I said goodbye to my mom and sister, and drove to my second event of the evening: Girls’ Night In. My friend, Beth, wanted to get all of the ladies together, so she hosted a laid-back holiday gathering at her home.
The food spread at Beth’s house was quite impressive! Even though I had already eaten dinner, I nibbled all night long.
I also enjoyed a glass of red wine while catching up with friends.
I love girl talk. Love it.
I didn’t snap a ton of photos at Beth’s house because I really just wanted to enjoy the evening. Sometimes, I need a little break from the blog!
Tonight really put me in the holiday spirit, so now I’m totally ready for Christmas to be here. Anyone else?? Let’s get the show on the road!
Good night, guys!

With being sick for the first part of the month, I feel like it’s been so much harder to get into the Christmas spirit this year! It makes me sad because I love the holiday so much!
I am ready too! Love your mom’s decked out place- that rocks!
Your mom is my HERO! I so wish my mom got into decorating the house for the holidays. Sadly, I am the one pulling our fam together. Without me there’d be no tree.
Loving the holiday spirit too. This is the best time of the year!
My mom is desperately trying to get me to come check out her extra Christmas decorations. My husband’s mom is, too! I guess we should give in and take some of it off their hands. 🙂
I’m not ready for Christmas yet! I can’t believe it is already so soon!
i love being in a house exploding with xmas decorations!
In Denver it was 70 degrees today. Doesn’t feel very Christmas like at all. Crazy enough I am just praying for snow. Looking at these fun pictures makes me feel a little more spirited though 🙂 Thanks! I need a little jolly spirit.
the food, the friends, the family…so awesome! love the xmas spirit!
I went through my mom’s extra decorations last year. It’s pretty sweet to get some free decor! I’m totally ready to spend time with friends and family over Christmas break!
haha I suspect my mum has a tonne of decorations too!
Friends, family, food, festivities, and then returning home to your boys? Sounds like a perfect day 🙂
So ready for Christmas! I got excited when it flurried today. Right now I have the tree lit and the mistletoe candle burning. I love it. 🙂
I can’t believe Christmas is next week.
Your Mom’s house is so festive- I love it! 😀
I’ve been ready for Christmas since Black Friday – come onnnnnnnn only 10 more days until I open up my REBEL! <3 <3
Looks like you had a fun festive day with friends and family! Love your mom’s decorations!
girl, sometimes you should just take a break if you need one! sounds like such a fun evening 🙂
I wish my mom would be a little more like yours.
She’s a horrible hoarder of all things Christmas. And wouldn’t part with one little piece of holiday ribbon if her life depended on it. This year she was a little upset because she dropped a box and two snow globes broke. All I could think was, “well, at least your entertainment center won’t be AS crowded…”
looks like such a fun night! love all of those christmas decorations
Eggplant parm is soul food in my opinion!!! Yum!
All that food looks amazing! Love girl talk as well, and I also need a break from the blog sometimes. I think I get so focused on it I forget to focus on the people that matter even more. Just need to keep a constant reminder!
I love how Christmasy your mom’s place looks! It’s hard to NOT get in the holiday spirit when you’re surrounded by all those decorations. 😀
Looks like a really fun night! I love family nights with my mom and sister. We usually kick my dad out though in order to have them 😉
Christmas is really here 🙂
Girls nights are great, especially laid back ones with good friends! I had a girls day of baking cookies- it was a great time and a good way to catch up! And of course, wine was present! Love the serving trays, dishes and cute snowflake bowls at your friends house- I need to get a set like these!
Your Mom’s place looks so cute decorated! Love it!
I love houses that are totally decked out with decoarations. 🙂 Unfortunately we hardly decorate at all here..so it’s nice seeing houses that do.
I love all your Mom’s holiday decorations and how she has them everywhere! How cute!
Your moms place looks so nice! I would love to walk in a place decorated like that!!
Girls nights are super fun!
All of this food has me drooling!
I wish I could get in the Christmas spirit, but I broke up with my BF this week and now I’m just ready for Christmas to be over and move on to a new year with a fresh start.
