Life’s Short…

January 30, 2012

Good morning! Happy Monday!

Breakfast

My day started off with the creamiest bowl of oatmeal ever. I honestly can’t remember a bowl of oatmeal like this one in a long time.

In the mix:

  • 1 banana
  • 1/3 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup liquid egg whites
  • 1/3 cup almond milk
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed meal

I added all of the ingredients to a pot on the stovetop, and then cooked (and stirred) it until it was warm and creamy.

And, of course, breakfast included a glass of iced coffee with soy milk.

Congrats, Heather! Please email me at tina@carrotsncake.com with your full name and mailing address to claim your prize.

I like anything along the lines of “life’s too short not to take risks.”

I live near the area where the huge Florida highway disaster just happend, it really does make you think about how short life is, and how it can be taken away in an instant. Life is short, appreciate it while you can.

@ VeggieGirl- I live close to the Florida highway crash as well. I agree, life is way to short not to appreciate every moment!

What a cool event! It’s such a great way to hold a 5k-like fundraiser during the cold and snowy New England winters!!

Liz @ Tip Top Shape January 30, 2012 at 11:03 am

Ha, love that!! I think my motto would be really pretty close to that one! I have a quick question about your oats–can you taste the egg? I know it adds a lot of staying power but I’d be afraid the oats would be egg-y.

Reply

Tina January 30, 2012 at 11:04 am

@Liz @ Tip Top Shape: I almost always add a banana, so that’s pretty much all I taste.

Lindsay @ Running the Windy City January 30, 2012 at 11:04 am

Egg whites are definitely my favorite addition to oatmeal because of both their creaminess and the extra protein!

While I think “eat cookies” is a pretty good one (or, replace “cookies” with “pizza”), I’d have to say my favorite non-food-related one is “Life’s short…so buy tall heels!”

Great post! Had to laugh because I was reading it while eating my oatmeal. One addition is to add a scoop of protein powder to increase protein level even more in addition to a healthy sprinkling of cinnamon which can then increase metabolism.

Really enjoy your site and look forward to more great information!

Reply

What do you think made your oatmeal so creamy this morning? I want the secret. I like the motto, life’s too short to drink bad wine. I also think, life’s short, so do what you love right now! This is definitely one I came to realize just recently when I quit my job that I hated in order to pursue my true dream. I’ve never been happier and never once regretted making that huge decision.

Oo I like ‘life’s short’ quotes, I’ll play – ‘life’s too short to be anything but happy” is a fave of mine, as is ‘life’s too short for erasers, just a draw a line through it and move on.’ Also -love egg whites in oatmeal, the make for the perfect puffiness without treading into eggy-tasting territory :)
