Welcome Reception & Street Food Fare

November 6, 2010

Wahoo! The Foodbuzz Festival is off to a great start!

Around 6:00 PM last night, I hopped on a bus with a bunch of other food bloggers to the Welcome Reception & Street Food Fare at the Fort Mason Center’s Herbst Pavillion.

We arrive right when the sun was setting over the bay. So pretty!

Of course, us crazy bloggers took advantage of the gorgeous scene!

_MG_1485.JPG

_MG_1486.JPG

Success! :-D

_MG_1489.JPG

Roomies! :-D

_MG_1490.JPG

Bostonians! :-D

_MG_1491.JPG

After a little photo session, we headed inside to the pavilion and got right down to business.

Snapping photos.

Meeting and mingling.

I met so many cool people last night!! I was especially happy to finally meet Lynn of The Actor’s Diet!

And, of course, there was plenty more eating over the course of the evening, including Diamond Lil’s Viking Gumbo.

_MG_1529.JPG

And an amazing pork sandwich from 4505 Meats.

_MG_1536.JPG

The sandwich was pork loin brined in jalapeño pickling liquid crusted in corn meal, beans, onion, and coriander aioli all on a buttery sesame bun.

_MG_1537.JPG _MG_1541.JPG

My goodness! Basically, I inhaled it and then licked my fingers clean.

_MG_1543.JPG

Ok, who am I kidding? While I loved the Chicharron, you know that I’m all about dessert, so the Mission Minis were truly highlight of the event for me. I ended up eating 5! Holy delicious!

_MG_1534.JPG

Cupcakes!!!

_MG_1549.JPG

Get in my belly!

_MG_1552.JPG

_MG_1560.JPG

And guess what? The Food Network was at the event filming a show for Cupcake Wars and the Mission Minis were were the star. Cool, right? Many of us were interviewed by the crew, so maybe you’ll see some food bloggers on an upcoming episode!

I <3 cupcakes!

Time to get my day started and face my fears! Eek!

Great pics, Tina! I love the cupcakes and seeing that gorgeous sunset on the water. San Fran is such a fun city. I love walking through fisherman’s wharf, even if it is a tourist trap.

Just FYI, the chicharrón is the thing alongside the sandwich. It’s fried pig skin.

The mini-cupcakes! I totally did something like that for my brother’s rehearsal dinner. http://districtchocoholic.blogspot.com/2010/10/mini-cupcake-mosaic-most-excellent.html

Chicharrones are actually the pork rinds (pork skin) that were served on the side. Those puffy chip-looking things are chicharrones, but that pork sandwich looks amazing!
