Just Like a Spring Day

November 23, 2010

It’s November, right? Well, it feels just like a warm spring day. It’s 60 degrees and sunny outside, which is totally unheard of for this time of year.

Hey, I’m not complaining. I love it! 8-)

I can’t wait for this hydrangea bush to blossom in the spring. They’re my favorite flower.

Workout

After breakfast, I took advantage of the beautiful (aka abnormally warm) weather and set out for a 4-mile run around my new neighborhood. According to my marathon training schedule, I was supposed to do Track Workout 2 today, so I kept it in mind while running outside. After warming up, I picked up my pace three different times for the 800′s. My goal was to keep my pace between 8:15 – 8:30 for each of them and recover at a 9:15-9:30 pace.

  • Mile 1: 8:50
  • Mile 2: 8:49
  • Mile 3 8:54
  • Mile 4: 9:32 <— I started to feel those 800′s!

Total: 36:09

Lunch

After my run, I stretched and used the Tiger Tail on my tight calves. (Yesterday’s Step & Strength class kicked their butt!) Then, it was time for lunch!

I threw together a quick salad with all sorts of veggies, roasted broccoli, leftover rice pilaf, and Annie’s Goddess Dressing drizzled on top.

After lunch, I satisfied my sweet tooth with a mug of Winter Dream Tea (made with soy milk) and a dark chocolate Adora disk with a dried apricot. I love eating Adora disks with dried apricots. So yum!

See ya for dinner! 8-)

This weather is fantastic! And a little eery I guess. But I plan to head out on a run in a couple hours and I don’t even think I’ll be in long sleeves! It’s the end of November!! Adora disk, I have noooo idea what that is, going to have to go look in to that! :-)

Hydrangeas are so beautiful. When I was at Pitt, there were these incredible blue, purple, and pink ones all around the Cathedral of Learning. I have so many photos of them.

It’s warmer than expected where I am too.

Great fall (and spring) pictures! I love my foam roller, I use it all the time! Is it possible to be addicted to it?

So jealous of your weather. We’ve got record breaking cold.

I can’t believe how warm it is. I took the dog for her lunchtime walk and was sweating in my sweater and jacket. But I fear that the cold will return tomorrow and snow is probably around the corner. At least you got to enjoy it today!

I love our weather too! My garden doesn’t quite look as nice as yours but the sun has actually made an appearance in southern Ontario this morning and I loved going outside at lunch time. My office doesn’t have any windows (which on some days is a good thing because winter weather here is very depressing!) but today I wish it did. Love your photos today!

That doesn’t seem like much food to eat after a 4 mile run. Weren’t you starving? Then again, sometimes I’m not hungry right after a workout…but I do tend to eat more overall when working out.

The weather is absolutely gorgeous today! It has actually been a pretty good November compared to last year. I’m enjoying it while it lasts though, because according to weather.com, it isn’t supposed to last.

I wish I could share in your warm weather, I’m not sure it will make it to 20 degrees today! Brrrr!

Was just wondering if you have ever had problems with shin splints and how you managed to get through them? I have recently developed shin splint in just my left leg and having to take a 2-3 week break, which completely messes up my race/training schedule. Any advice or helpful info??

I’m loving the warmth too! I just got to Virginia a few days ago and it’s so warm I’m wearing shorts and a tank top. After being stuck in several layers of warm clothes for two months this feels fabulous!

I thought I’d add my two cents. I am in Saskatchewan, Canada. I took my 20minute walk to work in -20*F (-28*C) weather.
With a wind chill of -36*F (-38*C).

I’m so jealous of you all. I’m from the east coast of Canada (though Saskatchewan is in the western prairies), and its 36*F (2*C) there. I’m even jealous of that!

It is pretty warm for November. I was out in a tshirt and shorts last night- NIGHT! Isn’t is suppose to be cooler then? :P But the weather man says it’ll be super chilly the next few days, so we better enjoy it!
