• Rainy Repeat

    October 1, 2010

    Hello from Newport!

I’m so, so, so excited to be here (it’s my favorite weekend of the whole year!), but the rainy, gray weather is a wicked bummer. It’s a repeat of last year. Wahhhh. :-?

Let’s hope the icky weather clears up soon!

Mal and I arrived in Newport just in time for happy hour! ;-)

We kicked-off our weekend by sitting on the porch, staring out into the ocean, and enjoying a couple of beers and a box of Vermont White Cheddar Wheat Thins. Man, it was a delicious happy hour!

Mal and I hung out and chatted for a few hours before wandering down Thames Street to find a place to eat dinner. Eventually, we decided on the Gas Lamp Grille.

The Gas Lamp Grille had a wonderful and cozy atmosphere, but the menu was just so-s0. I ended up ordering the French Onion Soup, which was good, but not great. Of course, I loved the cheese, but it wasn’t anything special.

Mal and I have a 9-mile run planned for the morning, so we’re heading to bed very soon.

    Enjoy your Friday night! :-D

What did you think of that pumpkin beer? I just tried that kind a couple weeks ago and really didn’t care too much for it…and it’s rare that I find something pumpkin that I DON’T like!

I love a cup of soup when it’s raining. Even mediocre soup tastes better as long as it’s hot and the weather outside if chilly and blustery.

Rain is lovely… when I’m inside with chocolate and coffee and don’t have to venture into it. It looks pretty though!

Snap with the rain and the miles! I am doing my first nine miler today ready for a 10 mile charity run on the 24th of October. It rained ALL day yesterday here in the UK, but seems to be holding off this morning… Good luck and enjoy your mini break :) I am off to an Apple Festival after my run, so think some cider will be in order! Oh, and pb and banana toasted sandwich is my must-have pre-run breakfast, too! I also add cherry jam (jelly). Mmm mmm!

I had that same pumpkin beer with dinner last night. I didn’t love it. The aftertaste was good, but the initial taste was weird. I’m anxious to try another brand. The thought of pumpkin + beer excites me.

Yum, I like Shipyard Pumpkin ale! Had one when we went out to dinner last weekend. I feel like the pumpkin ales have taken over the beer section of my local grocery store’s liquor store.
