Yesterday was all about walking… and walking and walking.

Mal and I walked from our hotel in Midtown Manhattan to SoHo, which was a little over 3 miles. We made a couple of pit-stops along the way, but we basically walked for two hours straight.

Times Square.

Madison Square Park.

Eventually, we got thirsty and our legs were tired, so we stopped into the Spring Lounge to take a break and enjoy a cold beer together.

The Spring Lounge had a nice selection of beers, many of which were local brews. I ordered a Six Point Sweet Action and Mal had a Lagunitas Lucky 13. I liked my beer a lot and it definitely hit the spot after walking for two hours in the summer heat!

After enjoying a beer, Mal and I headed over to Spring Street Natural for dinner. Thank you for the recommendation, Gabriela!
Spring Street Natural serves whole natural foods that are minimally processed. They make every effort to ensure that their produce and grains are certified organic wherever possible and all poultry is free range and naturally farmed without hormones. The restaurant also produces the majority of their food in-house, including fresh breads, pasta, and pie crusts. The menu includes a wide range of choices from completely vegan macrobiotic plates to sandwiches, salads, and innovative entrees with vegetarian, seafood, and poultry choices. It was definitely a hit with Mal and me!
We started with fresh bread. I think one of them was carrot bread. It was soft and orange-colored with a very subtle flavor. Yum!

To drink, I enjoyed a Pineapple-Coconut Mojito, which was made with Malibu coconut rum, crushed fresh mint, muddled fresh pineapple, fresh lime juice, and seltzer.

I worried that it might be super sweet, but it wasn’t at all. Instead it was light and refreshing.

For dinner, I ordered the Organic Tofu-Avocado Salad, which was made with sweet corn, scallions, crispy wonton chips, sesame-and ginger vinaigrette. Mmm! Loved it!

Mal ordered the Grilled Free Range Chicken Burger, which was served with the most amazing chipotle mayonnaise. I ended up dipping all of my wonton chip into it. So delicious!

Still even more to come!

Mmm–tofu and avocado: two of my favorite foods in one dish!
The bread is actually a sun dried tomato and rosemary bread. It is so funny because those ingredients are so strong, but they bread is so subtle and delicous!
