It’s All Over

August 15, 2010

Just like that, the 2010 Healthy Living Summit comes to an end. I’m a bit sad, but meeting so many bloggers and readers in person was absolutely amazing– I still can’t get over how many wonderful people I met this weekend. I definitely have a lot more blogs to add to my Google Reader!!

Workout

The final day of HLS started with an 8 AM run on the waterfront. We all met in the hotel lobby and then split into four groups: walkers, 5K runners, 10K runners, and 16-mile runners. I was glad to see such a good turnout this morning!

I joined the 10k group and ran my little heart out! ;-)

I was super dehydrated when I woke up, so I took advantage of every single water fountain that I saw along the route. Water and mini breaks definitely helped get me through the run this morning.

Breakfast

Once we finished the run and walked back to the hotel, I headed straight to the Thomas Farewell Breakfast.

Breakfast featured Bagel Thins with a make-your-own cream cheese station with everything from cinnamon and brown sugar to smoked salmon and jalapeños to everything in between. You name it, they had it!

I went with a carrot cake-inspired cream cheese, which was made with cinnamon, brown sugar, raisins, honey, and a pinch of salt to bring out the sweetness. It was delicious!

I also added some fresh fruit to my plate.

After breakfast, I quickly showered, packed up my stuff, and then walked down the street to Starbucks for an iced soy latte. I had about 30 minutes to kill before I needed to check-out of my hotel room, so I sat outside and pondered life. Now that my book is finished and HLS is over, I foresee some serious downtime in my life.

Lunch

Then, I check out of my hotel room, said goodbye to friends, and shared a cab to the airport with Ashley and her husband, Bo, who are the nicest folks ever! :-D

At the airport, I battled endless security lines and grabbed lunch just before I boarded my flight home. I had a spinach salad with apple slices, feta, and creamy balsamic vinegar on the side.

I also enjoyed a couple of chocolate truffles.

Snack

On the plane, I munched on some Chicago Mix popcorn and read the most recent issue of Runner’s World magazine. I’m gearing up for marathon training, which officially starts tomorrow! So psyched!

Dinner

When I arrived home, dinner was waiting: pepperoni pizza on naan. Delicious! I’m planning to eat an AllieBar for dessert! :-D

Pug

Seeing Murphy’s adorable pug face when I walked in the door of our apartment made me SO happy! Reunited at last!

I’m making a huge To Do list for tomorrow and then relaxing for the rest of the night.

So happy to be home!!!

Even though I didn’t attend….I had to put something up about HLS and how blogging has changed me for the better. :)

It’s my post today: http://secondchancehappiness.blogspot.com/2010/08/blogging-for-better.html.

So, thank you for all that you do!
