Never Thought I’d See the Day

January 8, 2010

I’m wearing skinny jeans today, which is definitely a first for me. I resisted the trend for as long as I could, but tall boots call for skinny jeans. I never thought I’d see the day!

I actually sort of like skinny jeans– with tall boots, of course! ;-)

Isn’t this photo very FFF of me? ;-)

Mid-Morning Snack

I’m my way to NuVal this morning, I grabbed a small hot coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts (milk, light on the sugar) to enjoy at my desk.

Lunch

I kept lunch on the lighter side today. You’ll see why in a minute! ;-)

I started with a PaleyBar Fruity Nut Evolution Bar, which was totally delicious. It was packed with nuts and dried fruit, and had a slightly sweet honey flavor. Big fan of this one! :-D

Then, I had some Greek yogurt.

And canned pineapple chunks.

And, finally, dessert!

Check out my Cookie Friday treat!

Oh, yes, I did it. An Old Fashioned Donut from Dunkin’ Donuts!

Ok, so donuts are not exactly a healthy example, but the whole premise behind Carrots ‘N’ Cake is that no food is off-limits. Well, except Red Bull because that stuff is nast-y! Plus, it’s not like I am eating donuts everyday, ya know? As far as calories go, I balance my choices throughout the day. My lunch was a little lighter than usual because I wanted to enjoy a donut this afternoon, so I planned the splurge into my day. Of course, there are a lot of scary ingredients in a Dunkin’ Donuts donut, but as long as I don’t make it a habit, what’s the big deal?

Mal and I planned a dinner date for tonight, which is part of the reason that I wanted to look nice today. I do feel pretty stylish in my skinny jeans and boots. ;-)

And, I just want to say that I have exciting news for you guys on Monday. I can’t wait to tell ya!

First of all that’s a great outfit!

I too have resisted the skinny jeans trend for a long time, but I recently cracked and decided it’s time to buy some. (I haven’t actually gone out and bought them yet.) I still don’t like the way skinny jeans look with flats, but they are cute with tall boots and certain heels.

You look great in skinny jeans and boots! I have resisted the trend but more and more I see it…maybe I should give it a try. Also I am glad you stopped at one donut because I have that bad habit of once I eat something not as healthy for me it can ruin the day. But you are right…alll about balance!

Haha I agree that Red Bull (and energy drinks in general) should be off limits. EW! Too many chemicals.

I’m not a fan of skinny jeans either, but I love the look on you!!!!!! And I think it’s SO IMPORTANT to keep the mindset that *nothing* is off limits as long as it is eaten in moderation. Good for you!

I got a skinny pair of black jeans this winter too, finally, but ONLY for boots!
Yay donuts! I have a friday ritual called Apple Fritter Fridays; I have a fresh fritter and coffee from the donut shop and I look forward to it all week!

Oh no, you had to have the Old Fashioned Donut! That was my favorite. I hope you enjoyed every bit of it! I have never been a skinny jean girl for myself…I feel like I am too short to carry it off. You wear them well! They do go great with boots!

Cute outfit! I’m pretty hippy (my husband actually has had the nerve to call me the super hero of thunder thighs!!) but I do think skinny jeans can be adorable tucked into high boots.

I love skinny jeans! I wear them with tall boots in winter , and flats or flip-flops in summer. I even wore them today for casual day at work with UGGs. I think they are cute!

Hah. This one time I was on mile 21 of the National Marathon and had a total brain malfunction which resulted in me thinking that I should accept and consume a free sample of RedBull from the RedBull tent parked in the middle of the course. Wost decision ever. Just thought I’d share…

Those skinny jeans look great on you. I never thought about wearing them with boots. I think I need to get a pair since I have a pair of boots I want to buy but don’t know what to wear with them.

I can’t wait to hear your secret…why must we wait so long?

So cute! Love the outfit…and the donut! I totally agree, everything in moderation. I prefer to eat healthy, but who doesn’t love sweets?! I am definitely that girl who will eat less dinner to have more room for dessert – yum!

I seriously love those jeans. I am 5’2, and I always thought that I was too short for skinny jeans. I have some UGGS though, and I need some jeans that they can go over. You’ve inspired me to at least try some on… Thanks, Tina!

i’ve been rockin the skinny jeans in boots lately – like every time i have to go out “dressy.” otherwise i’m just in sweats.

i agree with you 100% about the dunkin donuts. i ate a prepackaged rice krispie treat last night that was just purely chemicals, but once in a while is totally fine – and actually called for, i believe!

Rachel January 8, 2010 at 9:19 pm

I agree with you — as long as you eat foods on the unhealthy side in moderation, and plan your daily caloric intake around that, there’s no reason why you can’t treat yourself once in awhile.

I’m with you on the skinny jeans… never thought i’d see the day where I wore them. But I recently bought some tall boots (love me some Steve Madden) that just screamed for some dark wash skinny jeans. Love them!!!

Also, kudos on the donut!!! NO food is off limits if enjoyed in moderation!

Those boots are cute! I’m afraid that skinny jeans would ride up all of the time. Do you have that issue?

Love the skinny jeans! :D I haven’t worked up enough courage to wear them yet, but I’m getting there. ;) Do you recommend a brand? I’ve tried on several, and they’re always a little *too* tight in the calves.

You look so cute! I bought some skinny jeans yesterday, mainly because they just work so perfectly with tall boots.

Your notion of Cookie Fridays is one of the BEST things about your blog. You definitely demonstrate to us all how to live healthfully while still enjoying ourselves. Glad you chose a donut!
