Cookie Swap Pre-Game

January 10, 2010

I’m so psyched for the Cookie Swap this afternoon!

IMG_2660.JPG

I baked 4 dozen Oatmeal Butterscotch Chocolate Chip Bars for the big event. Of course, I’m excited to share my goodies, but I’m even more excited to see (and taste!) what everyone else brings to the swap.

Oh, how I LOVE cookies!!! ;-)

Workout

My hip still isn’t 100%, so I did a 45-minute walk-run workout on the treadmill to give it a little break while still breaking a sweat. I followed my cardio workout with a solid 15 minutes of stretching. My legs NEEDED it in a bad way. Why don’t I stretch more? It hurts so good! ;-)

Snack

I’m saving room for cookies, so I’m snacking on a blueberry-flavored Oikos while I blog instead of eating a full lunch.

Still need to blow dry my hair and put on make-up. See ya! 8-)

Those cookie bars look great! Did you just use your original oatmeal raisin bar recipe but add choc./butterschotch chips instead? Have fun!

Tina! You should totally stretch/do yoga more. I’ve been reading your blog since late December or so and have never seen you do any of that. I bet that’s one of the leading causes of your injuries. Running/walking/elliptical are all repetitive motion exercise that are going to have you working the same muscle groups over and over and underworking others. Thus muscle imbalances. Thus continued injuries. Look up muscle allignment. Google rolfing. And compare your allignment to what the body is supposed to be. You’ve got so many great yoga studios in Boston too! I think Baron Baptiste is even a local.

I’m with you. I should stretch more too. I’ve started doing more yoga, but what I really need is someone to show me what I should be doing. Do they even teach stretching classes? They being gyms? I’d been game if they did. I need some help!

I’m about to make 4 dozen oatmeal cranberry cookies, but I’m not swapping them with anyone ;) Haha, I’m giving at least 3/4 to other people though.

Can you believe I never heard of a cookie swap?! Is it a American thing? It’s a great idea, I think I have to import this in Europe:)

I did a looong stretch session today, too, after my 12-miler yesterday! My IT band is stressing me out with its tightness. I’m planning a yoga session tomorrow morning. Do you use yoga DVDs to stretch out at all?

Jay January 10, 2010 at 5:11 pm

Stretching is sooo good for you. As I’m sure you know, it lengthens the muscles and aids in the prevention of injuries. I don’t stretch as much as I need to, either…I used to all the time in yoga but got away from it when I injured my hip. I try to every night to get rid of the bursitis…On a lighter note, your bars look fantastic. Hope I get to see what you swapped for :)
