What a FUN night! I love drinking good beer!
The Black Beer Affair at Gordon’s Fine Wine & Liquors was a special evening of impressively dark beer, mingling, and delicious food. Definitely my type of night!

The appetizers for the event were provided by Jake’s Dixie Roadhouse, a BBQ joint right down the street in Waltham.

Mal and I shared a couple of plates of food. The BBQ wings were SO GOOD!

The Black Beer Affair featured a ton of top shelf beers from Dogfish Head, Mikkeller, Scaldis and many more.

The event also featured personal cellar offerings from Gordons’ beer managers with vintage offerings from Deschutes, Achel, Cantillon, among others. I was definitely impressed by the selection of beers.

I had no idea that I liked dark beer so much. I always expect them to be super heavy and bitter, but this wasn’t the case for a number of the brews that I tried tonight. I was surprised to discover that I really enjoy barley beers, which are generally smooth and slightly sweet.

Mal love the Bourbon County Stout so much, he ended up purchasing a bottle to take home. I don’t like bourbon at all, but this beer was excellent!

The 3-hour event was packed!

I definitely enjoyed my fair share of beer at the event!

The best beer of the evening (by far!) was a draught sample of Port Brewing’s Older Viscosity, which is one of the world’s finest and rarest beers.

It was dark, thick, chocolaty, and nothing like I have ever tasted. It was simply amazing.

I’m eating soup and crackers for dinner– probably some dessert, too!
See ya tomorrow!

Tina, you look so cute, and like you had a fabulous time!
One question, where did you get your necklace?..I love it!
I’m so excited Mal got the Bourbon County from Goose Island! ALL the beers from Goose Island are amazing and are the reason I got into beer. If you guys are ever in Chicago you have to go to Goose Island and eat at their restaurant. The food is as amazing as the beer!
@Amanda @ Cakes and Ale: I love Matilda, too!

Now that is my kind of night out! I’ve developed a huge love of beer over the last year or so and am always looking for new favorites or just a different experience.
I’m doing a 100 beers in a year challenge at a local pub, so swing by my site if you get a chance to read up on my beer drinking adventures!
