Scharffen Berger Giveaway

December 1, 2009

Ahhh, it’s here!!! The 12 Days of Giveaways on Carrots ‘N’ Cake!

I’m kicking of the celebration with two of my favorite things: (cooking) books and chocolate!

Have you tried Scharffen Berger chocolate? Well, it’s a little taste of heaven.

You may or may not know that Scharffen Berger had a cameo appearance in the August released blockbuster Julie and Julia. The brand was a favorite of Julia Childs.

The folks at Scharffen Berger have offered to giveaway 3 prize packages that include a paperback copy of the Julie and Julia book, a Scharffen Berger baking bar, and chocolate bar branded for the film.

To Enter: Leave a comment about your favorite chocolate recipe. Bonus points for a Julia Child recipe! ;-)

I will randomly pick 3 winners tomorrow morning. Good luck! :-D

My favorite chocolate recipe is the Mrs. Fields chocolate chip oatmeal cookie recipe that my mom, grandma, and aunt have made since I was a kid. We eat these delicious, rich, thick, chewy cookies at every holiday celebration. They’re great fresh out of the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or frozen with a crisp, cool glass of milk. MMM…nothing like the PERFECT chocolate chip cookie.

I love making anything chocolate dipped or chocolate covered… especially chocolate dipped pretzels and chocolate covered strawberries. The chocolate has to be dark chocolate though! :)

I combined two different recipes to create vegan peanut butter caramel brownies. They weren’t Julia recipes, but I’m pretty sure Julia would have liked the brownies!

My favorite chocolate recipe is a vegan “wacky” cake that I add giant chocolate chips to, and usually make into cupcakes! It’s called wacky because it has vinegar in it. Not a lot of course, but enough to react w/ the sodium bicarb. *fingers crossed!!*

Trailer Trash Toffee/Cookies, yummy, not the best looking cookie, but the taste is so good. Great for kids to make, easy! Saltine crackers, butter, brown sugar, and the best part…CHOCOLATE. But, then again, everything goes better with chocolate, and chocolate seems to help or even fix just about any thing.

My favorite is Dorie Greenspan’s (does that sorta count as Julia since she wrote Baking with Julia?) World Peace Cookies and I ALWAYS make it with Scharffen Berger. I tried a different chocolate once and it didn’t result in the instantaneous marriage proposals I’m used to getting on sharing the cookies.
