“Knives at Dawn” Giveaway

A few weeks ago, Top Chef featured the team behind the Bocuse d’Or USA, the world’s most prestigious cooking competition. KNIVES AT DAWN: The American Quest for Culinary Glory at the Legendary Bocuse d’Or Competition, gives an unparalleled, behind-the-scenes look at the Bocuse d’Or.

510zk2DkWiL._SS500_

Author Andrew Friedman illuminates the story of the groundbreaking support raised for the 2009 American team—what the team did, how they did it, and what they learned. This is the only book on the subject written with the full consent and cooperation of Chefs Daniel Boulud and Thomas Keller as well as the Bocuse d’Or USA committee, and the book traces the selection of the American team, the development of their dishes, and their training at a specially outfitted house two doors down from Keller’s The French Laundry in Yountville, California.

Sounds like an interesting story, right? The publisher has offered to giveaway 2 copies of this book!

To enter: Leave a comment on this post about your favorite cooking show.

I will randomly pick a winner tomorrow morning.

Good luck!

Well since I’m in Paris, I have access to French cooking shows! One of them is called Un Dîner Presque Parfait (An Almost Perfect Dinner) where people compete to throw the best dinner party for other contestants and are judged based on decorations, food, originality, creativity, etc. It’s actually quite a good show!

It helps when your trying to make something with “just what you’ve got” sometimes I can remember what actually holds the dish together, not just making it taste good :)

Oh I hope I’m not too late – my favorite cooking show is actually a British show, Gordon Ramsay’s The F Word. It’s not a traditional cooking show, per se, but it shows the preparation of many dishes, and it has such a focus on local food, I love it!

I love Iron Chef America. It’s so kitchy sometimes, and the chairman is a hoot (so theatrical!), but the creativity is awesome. :)

Top Chef is definitely my favorite. The Masters version was the best
