Funnier Than He Looks

July 21, 2009

Hi, guys! It’s WAY past my bedtime and it’s a “school night,” so I’m going to make this blog post snappy!

Tonight, I had the opportunity to attend my friend Jon’s stand-up comedy act at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education. Jon recently enrolled in a comedy course at the CCAE, and tonight was his big performance to conclude the class.

Jon was easily the BEST act of the night! He had the room cracking up for his entire set!  A lot of Jon’s material was taken from his own life, so our group of friends was really dying laughing!

Fellow Boston blogger, Elina, and her husband, Adam, joined us for the comedy show and dinner. It was fun hanging out with some new friends! :-D

Before the show, the group enjoyed dinner at the Grendel’s Den. (I love the half price menu there! )

I started with the spiciest Bloody Mary ever!!! It made me sweat, which is just the way I like ‘em! ;-)

For my meal, I ordered the Peruvian Quinoa Stew.

It was awesome! :-D

I loved all of the different veggies mixed with the quinoa. Holy yum… and filling!

As always, I craved something sweet after dinner. I picked a Jamaican Coffee with whipped cream. It hit the spot, but I think I would have preferred a piece of dark chocolate.

After Jon’s comedy show, we headed to John Harvard’s Brew House to enjoy a drink with him. I ordered the Wheat Beer, but it was terrible! Blah. You guys know me, I will just about drink any beer put in front of me, but this one was not good at all. I do not recommend this brew! Ick. :-?

I am beyond exhausted! Good night!

The stew looks incredible!! I don’t like Bloody Marys but your picture of it makes me think I want to try them again! I’ve never had a spicy one. Maybe that’s the trick!

I still have a hard time with bloody mary’s, but maybe the spice would help me get into them. I love tomato juice, but the thought of adding alcohol to it grosses me out! I could definitely get behind some spice to “soften” the alcohol flavor though. Hopefully you didn’t sweat it out too much! :D

Hey! I’ve been reading your blog for like 2 years now but I have never commented. I used to have a pug and I too have a slight obsession with the little guys… they are just so cute! Anyway, I saw this video and totally thought of you. I hope you like it :-)

You know, I don’t think I’ve ever seen quinoa at a restaurant before! Probably why so many people are confused about what it is, ha. I think I might try to make my own version of that stew!

The quinoa stew looks awesome! I love finding things I like making at home at restaurants – it’s good to have it made for you! Sounds like a really cool night out. Mmm Bloody Mary doesn’t sound bad!

That place looks absolutely amazing. Again, how did I live in Boston for over four years and not try these places out!?

Ummm, I love Bloodys too! Especially spicy ones, which are hard to come by in most restaurants, which is why I ADORE brunches with make your own Bloody Mary bars! Yum.
