I love fresh flowers! They really do put a smile on my face! :-D

How pretty are these flowers?!? Our office splurges on a new bouquet each week.

Lunch

I overslept this morning, so I kept lunch simple. I started with a homemade tomato + cucumber salad with olive oil, salt, and pepper.

IMG_3180.JPG

And Stonyfield Oikos mixed with CNC Trail mix and a pear on the side.

I’m blogging from Starbucks, so now I’m seriously craving an iced coffee. I’ll probably get one! ;-)

Sorry for such a brief post. I’m SO behind with blog stuff and need to catch up!

See ya later!

Bonus Question of the Day

Oh my gosh those flowers are so picturesque it’s incredible!

And yes – definitely have cried at work before. Hah. Though hopefully no one saw!

Those flowers are exquisite! I love tone on tone color palates.
I’ve cried at work before and it wasn’t pretty. I had to take a walk to calm myself down. I had a co-worker I trusted cover for me while I calmed down and freshened up.

I have cried at work. I went to the break room and put a cold washcloth over my eyes until the stinging sensation went away. When I got back to my desk my director apologized in front of the entire office for jumping on me for something that I had nothing to do with. I wish I could say her apology helped but it didn’t. I was angry for a couple of hours.

flowers are gorgeous! Love the color! Definitely have cried at work, but only after walking to my car or the bathroom.

I have had serious breakdowns at work- the advertising industry in NYC is an intense atmosphere!

When those moments happened, I took a walk around the block and called someone close to me to vent some of it out. Took some deep breaths, went back in, and told myself the most I can do is one thing at a time.

I’ve cried a couple of times at work…I actually cried last week! My boss was nice enough to let me sit in his office for a few minutes (after making me cry of course) so I could pull it together.

The flowers are stunning! Thanks for sharing. Love your simple lunch. I’ve cried on a stressful day, not a sobbing fest, but some tears. Just in my office so no one knew. Sometimes life/work is just stressful and you need a release!

It seems like the last year I have cried at work a lot. It has been a tough year. I usually will go outside to my car to pull myself together, or go outside with a friend. Sometimes I have had to leave work because I couldn’t get it together. Luckily I can do my work from home, so I didn’t have to take any time off. If I cannot leave, I try to just think happy thoughts and distract myself.

Those flowers are beautiful and very summery. I’ve cried at work, but never in front of anyone. I’ll go into the bathroom stall, let it out, then rinse off my face. I’m the only woman in my entire office and am already the butt of many sexist jokes. If I cried in front of anyone, I fear I’d lose what little respect they have for me. Can you tell I’m not a huge fan of my coworkers? haha! The pay’s good though :)

I cried at work yesterday actually! I was sad because I checked my email and my best friend’s visit had to be cancelled. I was really hoping no one noticed! I just blew my nose, drank some cold water and tried to act normal!

What pretty flowers!

I have cried at work before, but only when I had a lot of personal issues going on. Everyone was pretty understanding and (I think) glad to know I had feelings. I’m usually pretty unemotional!

Pretty flowers!! I wish my office splurged on them every week…
Yes, I have cried at my old job (an intense, high-pressure atmosphere)…a few times. When I broke down, I talked to a co-worker, took a walk and tried to resume the day. I ended up crying again because I made a scene. But, you live and you learn! Now I know how to control my emotions in the office :)

yes, I’ve cried at work before. One time it was because I got totally reamed out by someone for no reason so my bosses understood and I just took a minute and went to the bathroom to collect myself.

DEFINITELY have cried at work. Although I try not to because then I feel so stupid. But I’m an emotional person and if I’m upset, it will happen. Especially if I feel that I have been wronged (i.e., blamed for something that I don’t feel was fair). Usually I end up looking like Rudolph! But I wash my face with cool water, and vent to my co-workers and then to my partner when I get home. It will take me quite a while to get over it. Even though I want to forget, I tend to hold on to stuff like that. Thankfully I haven’t cried lately. It’s been so stressful (I’m a nurse) that I’m more frustrated and impatient! Whew…didn’t mean to write so much, but that was an interesting question :)
Thanks.

Such pretty flowers! I’ve cried once when I got in some trouble with the big boss lady. I tried to hold back teras and do work avoiding all eye contact but you could tell I was upset! The office ended up buying lunch for all of us.

The flowers are beautiful!

I have cried at work. I had a break down last week in front of my big boss. I was trying to hide being upset about it but I guess he could see on my face that everything was not OK and he kept pressing me for what was wrong. I finally broke down and told him and he was very understanding. I am lucky that he is so nice and is concerned about my wellbeing.

Those are gorgeous flowers! I love when florists put bunches together with only one color (well two including the green ;) ). I think I’ve only cried once at work and it was when I was having major tummy issues and I thought my stomach was going to explode! My boss is an older gentleman and he had no idea what to do when I started crying hahaha.

Beautiful flowers!!

I’ve definitely cried at work (more than once, but not frequently!) but the most memorable time was when I was in high school and worked at a movie theater. I was the birthday party co-ordinator and it was opening weekend of the first Harry Potter movie. We had 30 parties scheduled that weekend.

It was a nightmare.

I was really upset because things were not going right, so my co-coordinator pulled me into a broom closet and told me that I could cry in my pillow later at home, but that I needed to just calm down and suck it up. :)

OMG those flowers are breathtaking! I love purple. :)

I had a VP make me cry at my old job, I was stressed to begin with and she was trying to make me go around our team’s policy for file access. I held my ground but she really lit me up and was inappropriate. After I hung up the phone with her I shed a few tears. She actually apologized awhile down the road and ended up being one of my favorites to deal with.

EEEK, I hope this means you’re not crying today! I have cried at work, both publicly and in private. I’m emotional, too, so it was hard to hold back. After the public shedding of tears I just cleaned myself up and said excuse me for getting emotional. Embarassing, but oh well.

Beautiful flowers!

I have cried at work before. My ex-boss was a real jerk to me. I ended up quitting about a month later. But the company was full of nepotism. I think they we’re trying to make me quit because the CEOs niece wanted a job. She ended up taking my place after I quit.

My co-worker (AKA fellow waiter) and I got in a fight over something silly once and I cried not once but FOUR TIMES in the space of an hour. All the chefs, busboys, and other waiters saw, and probably some customers as well! Finally I just was able to take a deep breath, ignore the other waiter (who was my friend… made it a lot worse!) and get on with my business.

I’ve been in my real job for just over a year and I’ve cried once. That is an amazing feat for me because I am a CRIER! Growing up I probably cried ever single day over something different. I realized though when arguing with my husband crying got me nowhere and I have slowly learned to control myself.

Thankfully the day I cried at work I ran to the ladies room and my one other female co-worker was able to console me. Now I am the only woman in an office of 7, so if I ever cry again I’m sure they’ll just blame it on PMS and tell me to take some midol….

I have cried at work before too – sometimes work related and sometimes home related. Most of the time I’ll go for a walk or other times I’ll go see Brian (my boyfriend) who conveniently works at the same place. Usually a good hug or walk is all it takes. :)

Ugh, I’ve cried at work. Had a terrible break-up and went to work the next day… bad idea. I lost it in the women’s bathroom, crying my eyes out. Until my (male) boss marched right in, gave me cab money home and told me to get in bed. He told me he hated breakups, that he was so sorry, had been there before and needed to take time to myself for the rest of the day. I was really lucky that he was understanding but it was pretty embarrassing at the time.

Went home, took care of myself, came back after a day off and felt much much better.

Love the flowers.

I cried at work several times during my first year of teaching. Usually I was able to hold it in until I was in the bathroom, away from people, but once or twice I did it in front of other teachers. They’d all been there, done that… so it was okay. I remember one time I was teaching a little bit after I had cried and gotten myself together (or so I thought) and one of my eight-year-olds was like, “Are you crying?!” Kids notice everything! I blamed it on a contact lens problem.

What kind of flowers are those non-rose ones?

Tina, my friend, I had almost daily break-downs at work, culminating in me birsting into tears in a partners office once. What a mess I was! I can tell you all aout it in person if you’d like very soon. :D Needless to say, I knew I needed to find something else to do with my life and I did. I think a bad day at work on occasion is normal. It’s hard and stressful, but if it’s more often I think it’s a signal. Anyway, many people at work had a similar story, so I don’t think it’s a huge deal. Also, don’t you remember the HIMYM when Marhall cried at work?

I hope you didn’t cry at work!

I’ve cried a bunch, I usually hold it together enough to at least go to the bathroom, but once I was so angry and frustrated about a situation that I cried in the main office, in front of the principal and most everyone. It was awful and slightly embarrassing, but then I just apologized, dried my tears and everyone just acted like it never happened. I think it helps that most of my colleagues are women and understand, but I think the guys just take it in a stride and no one thinks any less of you as a result. There’s nothing wrong with being human and expressing emotion, right?

oh no! keep your chin up! I have definitely cried at work before but luckily I have the luxury of working with family. Once it was after a bad breakup (how embarrassing) and another time because I messed up something BIG and couldn’t figure out how to fix it! It happens to everyone now and again… if it DID happen to you then try and just let it go and move on! :)

When I left my old-old job for my more recent old job, my boyfriend said, “Okay now, you’re staring somewhere new, DON’T CRY AT WORK!” and what did I do? I cried the first week I was there, I was so overwhelmed. My boss was a woman and very understanding, and made me feel better. Not that it was the last time I cried at work. Now I work from home and I cry here sometimes, too :)

I’ve cried at work. I’m in nursing and I work on the cardiac unit so it’s really stressful. I work with some very demanding people, and sometimes when I get angry at them or if a patient is stressing me out, I go into the linen room or the bathroom and have a good cry or take a walk and get it out of my system. Luckily I work with some really nice people who cheer me up when I get upset.

Reply

Sarah July 15, 2009 at 3:18 pm

It’s been a while, but yes, I have cried at work. Usually I’m able to keep it under control and dab my eyes and put some powder on my face. Luckily I am in a cubicle where no one really sees me. If its really bad I’ll go to the bathroom and let it all out.

Reply

Jessie July 15, 2009 at 3:41 pm

Crying at work is so unprofessional! Unfortunately it happens though – If you can get it together just go to the bathroom and wait until you have yourself under control. If you can’t get it under control march yourself into HR and tell them you need to leave. Think of how uncomfortable you feel when you see someone cry at work! Especially if they are in a position of authority!
