    That’s right, bloggies! Carrots ‘N’ Cake turns 1 today! My first blog post was on the afternoon of February 3, 2008. 

    I still can’t believe that I’ve been blogging for an entire year! Time flies when you’re having fun! :mrgreen: It’s even harder to believe that I have photographed just about every meal that I’ve eaten for 365 days! Think about how many photos I’ve snapped– including the ones that never made it onto the blog! 

    History of Carrots ‘N’ Cake 

    I orginally started this blog as a way to keep me on track with a healthy diet and exercise for my upcoming wedding. Back then, I was more interested in counting calories than eating wholesome, nutritious foods. In my early posts, I counted every calorie in all of my meals. Boy, how things have changed! 

    Back then, my blog was “technically” called Carrots and Cake, and it was hosted through Blogger. (It actually still exists at my old blogspot domain.) On February 29, 2008, Carrots and Cake changed its name to Carrots ‘N’ Cake for a very simple reason: the domain name www.carrotsandcake.com was already taken! Who would have guessed?! So, I made the executive decision to officially change the blog’s name to Carrots ‘N’ Cake with its very own domain name. 

    Carrots ‘N’ Cake kept trucking along for the next 7 months at Blogger with no major changes. It was a cute, little blog. But, with the help of my friend Blain, I realized that there were bigger and better blog platforms out there, and I moved over to WordPress with my very own custom template that I designed myself (with the technical expertise of Blain). In October 2008, Carrots ‘N’ Cake got a full facelift, which is the same design that appears today. 

    In the past year, Carrots ‘N’ Cake has come a loooooong way! And, as cheesy as it may sound, so have I! For those of you who have been reading since the early days, you’ve seen me plan a wedding, contemplate (and attempt) a career change, achieve a 5K PR, wean myself off Splenda, surpass 1 million pageviews, resign from a job to start a new one, plus soooo much more! It’s amazing to look back and see all of the changes I’ve made and the things that I have accomplished. Through it all, I have enjoyed sharing both my personal life and food experiences with all of you! Of course, it hasn’t always been easy. Having a food blog is a lot of work, but what I have received in return has been well worth it! I’ve learned so much, become healthier and smarter about my food choices, received countless new exercise and recipe ideas, and made new friends– in cyberspace and in person.

    And, without further ado, I give you my very first post

    Sweet Ending 

    How fitting is the title of my first post?!? Without even realizing it, I summed-up my daily habit of eating something sweet at the end of every meal in my very first post! :)  

    Having a food blog has been one of the most rewarding projects of my life, and I want to thank all of you who read every day. You have helped make CNC what it is today! Plus, each of your comments, emails, and conversations motivate me to continue blogging and better myself each and every day! So, thank you readers!!! :mrgreen:

    Happy blog birthday, Tina! I love your blog and read it every day, usually more than once a day! It was one of the first blogs I started reading… you’ve been a real inspiration to me in terms of healthy living and eating!
