Mishmash

January 7, 2009

Hello, blog friends!

So, this isn’t my normal afternoon post. It’s a mishmash of links to news and articles that I currently find interesting/exciting. I love sharing “cool” stuff with you guys, so I might try something a little different on the blog (at least a few times a week). Please let me know what you think!

With my new job on the horizon, I am trying to figure out how blogging will fit into my work day. I’m going to try to blog my breakfast post after exercising and before work, and post dinner in the evening like usual. Unfortunately, I’m not sure where lunch fits into the blogging equation. So, would you prefer that lunch be posted in the evening with dinner or have a mid-day post (and some light reading) like the following post?

Double Your Closet Space

A reader sent me this great web article about making the most of your closet space. I’m always trying to improve upon my closet organization. (Mostly because I am a dork!)

A modern single girl is constantly updating her wardrobe, so things in her closet can get out of control pretty quickly. These simple tips will allow you the room you need to keep your closet filled with the most up-to-date styles without overflowing!

Eat This With That

Eating certain foods in tandem helps the body absorb nutrients more readily. Interesting concept, right? Have you ever tried to eat this way?

Healthworks Membership?

Bostonians: Thinking about joining Healthworks? I just found out that Harvard’s gym is WAY cheaper and CLOSER to my new job, so I am trying to get out of my HW contract. I can transfer it for free to you, which means you won’t have to pay the initiation fee. Email me if you’re interested!

I will be happy with whatever number of posts per day you decide works best for you. I personally know how crazy it is trying to fit in 3 posts per day while working and having a life outside of the blog. I think 2 posts per day is just fine and you wouldn’t lose any readers over it. Just my personal opinion!

I love the whole ‘eating foods in tandem’ thing. I learned a alot about this in my nutrition courses. Some foods I eat in tandem are:

cooked tomatoes and olive oil (the oil helps absorb the lycopene)
Vitamin C and calcium (helps absorption)

Thanks for teh fun post!

Do whatever is right for you as far as posting goes. As long as you keep posting I know I’ll be happy. You always have such great meal ideas!

I think that 2 posts a day is fine, there is no need to stress yourself out, trying to make three! We’ll all still read and love your blog, no matter what!

I think a mix would be good…whatever you decide. Both are great ideas, and I would not be worried about your readers too much :)

Man I would love the HW membership but I think its just too much, plus I’m probably moving more out of the city in the Spring/Summer.

One of my friends from dance class works at teh Harvard gym…I think she manages it actually!

I agree with the masses. I think you should post whenever is most convenient for you. It shouldn’t be stressful, that would defeat the purpose right?! Maybe stick to 2 posts during the week and do 3 on the weekends? Or just surprise us with a lunchtime post whenever you have time! ;)

Hi Tina! Thanks for all of the great links…I love how many interesting things I learn from following links on my favorite blogs! I love the idea of a weekly links post… And as far as the meals posts, what if you just wrote about your workouts in the morning, or shared interesting tidbits of info with us, then wrote about your entire day’s worth of eats in the evening? Like one big food journal post?

I really enjoyed reading this post and would love to see more like this! But I agree with what’s being said above-do what is best for you and your sanity! I will keep checking in no matter what.

I think two posts a day is great if that works best for you. Personally, I would rather see lunch posted in the evening with your dinner and then some interesting articles whenever you have the time to post them. But of course, I will read either way!

Two posts a day are fine! If you find that you really have lunch things you want to continue to share with us, you could always do a “weekly recap/catchup” or something on the weekends if you want to review your lunch time meals throughout the week.

Also, after reading the Eat This Not That article, does this mean that I can chase my salad with a side of french fries ? (lol)

I agree – don’t stress yourself out with three posts, but if you feel like it, post lunch with dinner! :)
