Food-Focused Saturday

January 31, 2009

I didn’t realize until I sat down to blog that my entire Saturday is focused on food! There’s nothing wrong with that– I’m just pointing it out! ;-)

Of course, my morning started with a wonderful bowl of oats.

In the mix:

  • 1/2 cup dry oats
  • 1/3 cup canned squash
  • 5 Medjool dates, chopped
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed meal
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 scoops of Barney Butter

Oats + iced coffee…

The next food-related activity on my Saturday agenda is a blogger/media event! How cool is that? Starbucks is hosting a tasting to try their new Tea Lattes. It looks like Starbucks is finally tapping into social media to market their products!

After the tasting event, Mal and I are meeting our friends, Jon and Rose, for brunch/lunch. I’m not sure where we are going to eat yet, but I hope our friends pick a yummy place! I’m in the mood to try a new restaurant!

The rest of my Saturday is filled with errands, including a trip to the grocery store to buy ingredients for our Super Bowl Party. (Either Mal and I or our neighbors, Josh and Danielle, are hosting.) I have no idea what I want to make for the party, but I have really fun football-themed dishes to serve it in!

Enjoy your Saturday, guys! I’m off to do food things!

The blogger/media event sounds cool. I think its really interesting to see what new (and a lot of times cheaper) marketing companies are coming up with right now. Have fun on your food-filled day!

Hey Tina,

I was reading you interview on N her shoes yesterday, and I saw that you said you stay away from milk because it messes with you skin. Lately, I have been having some trouble with my skin, and I was wondering if staying away from milk would help?
However, I do notice that you still eat yogurt, so is it just milk that I should stay away from?

Any advice would be great!
Enjoy your weekend

I love your blog and I just wanted to say that I really like the fact that you drink iced coffee in the winter. I drink iced coffee and iced tea throughout the winter and people always say something. I hope you have a great day!

The iced coffee, is that just a normal coffee, cold with ice, or is it a different recipe like iced tea?

How do you make your iced coffee? I’ve tried, but it never turns out well.

@emily: One of Starbucks’ PR people contacted me about it.

@Alex: It might. I don’t drink much milk anymore, and my skin has gotten SO much better. Yogurt is very different than milk– it’s actually a lot easier on your digestive system.
