I woke up feeling like a zombie this morning. Traveling + time zones totally messed me up. I had one of those mornings when you wake up and have no idea where you are or what day it is. It actually took me a little while to figure it out! Mal and I made plans with Dave and Marie to go to Body Pump, so I forced my butt out of bed.
Thankfully, Body Pump woke me up and got the rest of my day off on the right foot. My day got even better, when the four of us decided to go to the Wheelhouse Diner for breakfast after class. Hooray!
I was planning to make pancakes with Buttermilk Syrup at home, but the Wheelhouse was a much easier option, especially since Mal and I have no food in our house and we would have needed to go grocery shopping. We’re so lazy sometimes.
The four of us started with a round of iced coffees.
And I ordered “the usual” for breakfast.
Murphy also enjoyed “the usual,” but check out his new placemat. Adorable, right?!
If you’re wondering about the balls on Murphy’s plate, we put them in his food to prevent him from eating too fast. He sometimes chokes because he wolfs his food down so quickly!

Ugh I totally agree, traveling + switching time zones will really get ya! Just got back from Ireland last night and I felt like I had been drugged! Hopefully we’ll both have time to catch up over the weekend – enjoy π
Oooh I just did Body Pump this morning and upped all my weights…my arms are killing me. But I feel badass!! Totally pumped me up for the rest of the day π
i don’t think the balls in my dog’s bowl would work – he would forget to eat!
There’s something about going out to breakfast that is so wonderfully indulgent and a great way to kick off the weekend π
I love Murphy’s place mat! Did you order it online? I would love to get one like that for my Bowser!
@Carly (Swim, Run, Om): Yep, from Frontgate.com
I love eating breakfasts out on the weekends. Hope your body adjusts back to east coast time soon!
Welcome home! Wheelhouse is a great way to get back into the swing of things.
I love eating breakfast out. We rarely do it so it is such a treat!
That’s a pretty clever thing to do- putting the balls in Murphy’s food dish!
Good job getting to Body Pump after all that traveling! Glad you enjoyed your Saturday brunch out with friends. Sounds like a perfect start to the weekend to me. π
You have been a traveling machine recently! Hope you can get back into the swing of things this weekend!
That ball idea is really good! Does he ever try and eat the ball…?
It must be good to be home and get into a routine again π
I need to put some balls in my bowl too. I don’t have a dog. MY bowl.
Those balls sound like a good idea. My cat tends to wolf his food down too quickly, too, but knowing him, he’d try to eat the balls, too. π
I love Murphy’s mat! That’s cute. π Is it custom?
YUM those iced coffees look so good! Is it a Northeastern thing for restaurants to offer iced coffee? I don’t think I’ve ever seen it in the midwest outside of coffee shops.
I laughed when you showed the balls in Murph’s bowl. We have a beagle who eats so fast he frequently chokes/vomits, and we have used everything in his bowl including large rocks that he has to eat around, like a maze. It definitely slows him down, but aggravates him. The latest is this dog bowl we found at a local pet shop (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0032GG5Z8?&tag=shopwiki-us-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325) that does the trick!
I went to Body Pump this morning, too! I actually almost hit up a diner afterward, but decided against it. I probably would have ordered the same thing. π Have a great day.
I’m impressed you made it to the gym after a busy week of traveling! That’s awesome! Have a great day π
Smart idea for Murphy. I wish there were some tricks like that for adults sometimes too π
Ahh breakfast at a diner, the perfect comfort food!
I give my dog a bit at a time, when she’s finished she can have more etc, if i fill the bowl i know it’ll be gone in a second!
Great idea with the food dish! I’m currently living with my brother, and his dogs do the SAME thing, so i’m going to have to try this trick out!
Good for you getting up and going anyway. We are cleaning the house today, so not much fun here! Enjoy your afternoon and get some rest!
ahhh i’d be worried he’d choke on the balls!
(i probably worry too much π )
Same here with the zombie feeling – 2:15pm and I am ready for bed. Going to bed at 3am after this traveling has thrown me…..still drooling over feta talk
Maybe I should add those balls to my fiancΓΒ©’s plate… That sounded bad.
Anyway, I love going out for breakfast on the weekends! Now I just need to find a place that serves iced coffee in those giant coca cola glasses and I’m loyal for life π
I stink so bad at going to the gym on Saturdays!! Ugh. Glad you made it back home to your boys safely.
iced coffees look yum! (runs to go make some)
Murphy’s mat is too cute!!
Another idea for Murphy–feeding out of a muffin or mini-muffin tin will slow his eating down!
What a cute placemat for murphy!!! Did you get that made especially for him? I’d love to get one for my pup π
That wheelhouse diner looks like so much fun! I love cute little places like that. It’s a refreshing change from starbucks and such. Smart idea on Murphy’s dog bowl, by the way. When I read it I was like- wow, that is a really good idea, haha.
That’s a smart idea about the balls and a cute placemat.
Your “usual” at the Wheelhouse always looks so good! I’ve been meaning to try rye bread…
I definitely eat out sometimes when I’m too lazy to get food!
Haha Murphy is so funny! He really likes his food! π
@Tina: Awesome, thanks!!
Ah, workouts are always energising, I find. Looks like you day is off to a great start! (Hahaha dip the balls in PB! (TWSS) Maybe it’ll help him eat even slower. :P)
Wei-Wei
You’re not lazy! Only crazy people would go grocery shopping *before* breakfast. Sheesh! π
When my dog was alive (tear), we had to spread her bowl of food in a line of the floor to prevent her from inhaling it =]
I hardly ever go out to breakfast, what a nice treat. That diner looks cool too!!
Please post a video of Murphy eating!
What a great idea! My Rascal has the same problem. I try to tell him that it isn’t his last meal, but he’s kind of a little piggy.
