Yes! YES!

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Good morning!

I’m off to DC for the National Half Marathon (and plenty of shenanigans), so I need to make this post snappy. A taxi will be here in about 45 minutes to take me to the commuter rail, and I still need to blow dry my hair and finish packing. Gah!

Last Night’s Dinner

Last night’s dinner was a random mix of favorites: roasted brussels sprouts, baked buffalo tofu, and Salt & Vinegar Chickpeas. (Really, I just wanted to use up the leftovers in the fridge before I left for the weekend.)

After dinner, Mal and I decided to watch a couple of the basketball games at The Abington Ale House. March Madness is pretty much the only time I am interested in sports, so Mal always takes advantage of it!

At the Ale House, I enjoyed a Shipyard Export Ale and a bunch of pretzels with cheese.

This morning’s breakfast was Carrot Cake Bulgur. In the mix: bulgur, carrot cake jam, chia seeds, raisins, and a big scoop of peanut butter. It was very delicious.

Later this morning, I get to see my best friend from college! Yes! YES! Katie and I haven’t seen each other since my wedding in July 2008. Isn’t that terrible? I can’t believe we went so long without seeing each other.

I cannot wait to be reunited with Katie! It’s going to be glorious!

Question of the Day

Are you good about keeping in touch with old friends? When was the last time you saw your best friend?

P.S. I’m hosting a Bob’s Red Mill giveaway on Trading Up Downtown today!

  1. It’s so hard to keep in touch with old friends. I saw my best friend last Sunday, but she lives in Boston so thats not too bad- though I would say we go longer than we should sometimes. My college roommate lives far away and I haven’t seen her since my wedding but at least that was last summer 🙂

  2. Last time I saw my BFF, was her b-day in February. That was also the last time I talked to her :-/ We’re both so busy and keep missing each other’s phone calls. We finally set a phone date for 8pm tonight!

  3. Good luck with the half!!! Can’t wait to hear all about the trip. 🙂

Have fun with Katie, too! I’m not that great at keeping in touch with olf friends. Well, kind of..but the fact I only see them every other year or so (distance) doesn’t help.

  4. I realized I didn’t answer your question about staying in touch with friends …..
Let me tell you, I try SO hard to stay in touch and it never ceases to surprise me how much more difficult it becomes as time goes by. I want to say ‘thank g’ for the internet and social media and texting for making it easier to at least be connected … but at the same time, I want to choke these technologies for taking away people’s need to ‘make the effort’ and call (?!), send a card (yes, through snail mail) to say hi/thinking of you … etc. You truly learn WHO and WHAT is important to you the older you get …. because as free time becomes a rarity, you have to budget that time carefully. How you choose to spend your time says so much about who you are. And who you want to be with.

    With that not-so-short answer …
Good Luck!!!!! (turns out I wont be there … but the District will be buzzing with the event so I’m sure I’ll see some runners out and about after the race!)

  5. How fun! Friend reunions are the best!

I try to talk to my good friends at least once a month, but it can be hard with our timezone differences. I saw them all for a mini reunion back in October though and will hopefully be seeing them again soon.

    Have fun!

  6. My best friend lives a 15 hour drive from me so we don’t see eachother much. The last time I saw her was last summer.
We keep in touch through email and facebook… thank God for facebook 🙂
