Tonight, I met my friend, Jen, for appetizers, wine, and girl talk at Abby Park in East Milton Square. When I lived in Southie, I saw Jen practically every week, but now that I live outside of the city, I rarely see her. It’s actually very sad. 🙁 Jen and I have been playing phone tag for a couple of weeks now, so we finally talked yesterday and made plans to get together this evening.

Abby Park was a great place to catch up with a good friend. It has a really chill atmosphere, great service, and a special $5 Happy Hour menu from 3:00 – 6:00 pm everyday at the bar. Jen and I arrived at Abby Park a good 10 minutes after 6 o’clock, but the manager still gave us the Happy Hour deal. Sweet! 😀

The Happy Hour menu includes a bunch of delicious-sounded appetizers and they seem to change every few weeks. Tonight, there were a bunch of different items on the menu.

To eat, Jen and I shared a few of the appetizers from the Happy Hour menu. After seeing the Marinated Steak Tips the last time I went to Abby Park, I just had to order them tonight. They were marinated in Guinness steak sauce and they were absolutely fabulous! In fact, after just a few bites, I texted Mal to tell him that we need to order them the next time we go to Abby Park for Happy Hour.

Jen and I also ordered the Dip Trio, which came with white bean & rosemary and olive & sun-dried tomato tapenade and served with crispy flatbread. Sadly, it didn’t have the chickpea & lemon hummus. It was so good last time!

The third appetizer that we ordered was the Fried Artichokes with roasted red reppers, capers, and some other stuff. I’m not too such what was in it, but it was really yummy. Jen loved it!

I also ordered a glass of Chardonnay with our appetizers. I couldn’t decided between the “cheap” and “expensive” options, so the bartender offered to give me a sample of each.

Not surprisingly, I picked the more “expensive” wine. Life is too short to drink bad wine! 😉

Jen and I considered having another glass of wine at the bar, but we figured we’d get more for our money by purchasing a bottle from the liquor store down the street instead of paying $12 per glass.

What do you think of my wine stopper? Hey, Mickey! I got it when I was in ! 😀

Apparently, the Bruins on are on TV right now?!?

(Just kidding! My husband and Jen are freaking out right now! I guess I should pay attention to the game?)
