What a night! A BIG thank you to Kendall-Jackson and the wine family for a fabulous “Wine in the City” night out on the town. I definitely felt special tonight!

The Wine in the City event started with a laid-back, yet sophisticated cocktail party at the Hilton Manhattan East.
At the cocktail party, there were lots of delicious appetizers to chose from– both stationary and passed.
And, of course, there was plenty of Kendall-Jackson wine.
Also a HUGE thank you to “Almanzo” for inviting me to the event!
Once the cocktail party ended, we headed to The Capital Grille for a five-course dinner with wine pairings.
I must say, the food + wine pairings was quite impressive! 😀
First course: Lobster and Crab Cake served with Caper Tartar Sauce and paired with Cambria 2007 Katherine’s Vineyard Chardonnay. I love crab cakes, but lobster and crab cakes are even more amazing, especially when there are big hunks of lobster in it.
Chardonnay was the perfect wine pairing. It brought out so much flavor in the crab cake.
Second course: Chilled Seared Sushi Grade Tuna served with Wasabi Oil, White Soy, and Ginger Vinegar paired with La Cream 2007 Pinot Noir. The sesame-crusted tuna was to die for! My favorite sauce out of the three was the white soy. Mmm!
I usually don’t enjoy Pinot Noir, but this one was excellent with fresh, juicy flavors of cherry and plums. It was my favorite style of red wine.

During the meal, the head sommelier at The Capital Grille briefly described each of the wines to us. It was fun tasting new ones and learning about them.
Third course: Roasted Lamb Chips served with Cherry Mostarda paired with Cambria 2007 Barbara’s Pinot Noir. I’m not much of a meat eater, so I only ate a couple of bites of the lamp chops.
Fourth course: Dry Aged Sirloin served with Cipollini Onions and Wild Mushrooms paired with Kendall-Jackson Jackson Hills 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon. Again, I only ate a few bites of the Dry Aged Sirloin, but I enjoyed this course a lot more. The meat, mushrooms, and onions all had a ton of flavor and went so well with the Cabernet Sauvignon.
Final course: Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake. Thick, rich, heavenly.
Friends, wine, delicious food. What more could you ask for? It was an amazing evening and one I will never forget. Thanks, again, KJ!
