Hey, there! š
This is going to be a monster blog post, so let’s make sure we don’t forget about lunch!
I had the “basics” (romaine, tomatoes, green bell pepper, broccoli) for a homemade salad, but they didn’t sound too exciting. So, after my workout, I visited the salad bar at The Fruit Center to pick up some “fun” salad ingredients for lunch.
To the mix, I added grilled veggies, breaded artichokes, chickpeas, kidney beans, marinated tofu, shredded carrots, and some other goodies. I also sprinkled some Garlic Gold Nuggets on top. (I had to see what the hype was all about!) The flavor sort of reminds me of Papa Gino’s pizza. Is that weird?
Lunch also included some cinnamon-sugar pita chips from the salad bar.
And a plum.
Workout
Before lunch, I hit the gym for a very sweaty treadmill workout. According to my marathon training schedule, today’s workout is Track Workout 2. I wanted to do the workout outside on a track today, but it’s 95 degrees in Boston, so the treadmill ended up working just fine! š
Track Workout 2
2 lap warm up, 3 X’s 800M, 2 lap warm down, 1 lap rest
Pace based off of 5k race time
Here’s the workout that I did on the treadmill:
- 0.50 miles @ 6.5 mph
- 0.50 miles @ 7.3 mph (8:13 pace)
- 0.25 miles @ 6.3 mph
- 0.50 miles @ 7.4 mph (8:06 pace)
- 0.25 miles @ 4.3 mph
- 0.50 miles @ 7.3 mph (8:13 pace)
- 0.25 miles @ 4.3 mph
- 0.25 miles @ 6.5 mph
Total: 3 miles in 28:48
Track Workout 2 was much harder than Track Workout 1. I ran a shorter distance and it took me less time overall, but it was much more intense. Those 800’s were killer! I even had to walk to catch my breath after the second and third ones. I was an icky, sweaty mess by the end. Check out my treadmill!
Apparently, I’m a sweaty kid. At least I know that I got a good workout! š

The nice guys fromĀ Adjacent Concepts (who designed the new CNC) areĀ donating a $200Ā custom banner to help Mal and me raise money for Team in Training! Wahoo!
What is a ācustom bannerāĀ?

Awesome workout too – sounds tough!
Lovely food (espec the sugar pita chip things!), annnd finally – good luck with the houses!
Great workout today Tina! My treadmill looks like that too — to steal a quote from a movie “I don’t sweat, I RAIN!”.
Good luck with the house hunt!
Garlic Gold is so good sprinkled on just about anything — I am loving my nugget shakers!
@Holly @ couchpotatoathlete: I totally RAIN!!! LOL!
Cinnamon sugar pita chips are the best! I’m hitting the salad bar for dinner. I hope mine turns out as good as yours looks š
WOAH, GREAT WORKOUT – I’M VERY IMPRESSED! happy hunting!
dang, i gotta get my hands on some of that garlic gold! it always sounds so good!
your workout sounds like a great one. way to get that heart pumpin’!
Wowza lots of good stuff going on here! I did outdoor yoga yesterday in Arlington, VA (DC metro) and it was free and an amazing way to start the week! I love doing outdoor workouts in the AM, especially when they are freeeeee!
good luck with the hunt! you guys are going to find an AMAZING house and i can’t wait to see it!
Ah! I would love to win a new banner! I’ve always created mine by myself, but it would be a real treat to have a professsionally made one!
Thanks for the giveaway Tina! We’re glad you’re back settled into your routine š
Great workout btw! You know you’ve done work when you get nice and sweaty like that !
Hmmm…normally I don’t do raffles because I never have that kind of luck. But to support a good cause and with such a good prize I am very tempted.
I have Photoshop on my ancient desk top computer from college and I’m always so tempted to turn it on and make a custom banner, but I lost the key board, haha.
ahhh i <3 the breaded artichokes from the salad bar.
The banner raffle is such a great idea! Best of luck, as always, to you and Mal- hope the raffle is a success!
That yoga class looks really cool. I would love to swing by (if I can get my sorry butt out of my cozy bed). Sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime thing!
Tina! Get rid of the “click to read more”, I don’t stop by so much anymore, and when I do, I rarely click and keep reading. And everything loads so slowly. š
Enjoy the hunt! Lunch looks delicious!!!
Delicious sounding salad!!
The treadmill pics are funny….I love a good sweaty workout!
That’s a great raffle idea!
Good luck on the house hunting.
those cinnamon pita chips look scrumptious. chomp.
Good luck looking at houses! If your workout was 8 x 800 meters, how come you did only 4 800 meters and there are random 400 meters in there? Maybe i just didn’t follow what you were saying correctly!
Oh awesome raffle giveaway!
Yummy looking salad! I think I’m going to have to hit up the salad bar at Whole Foods again soon for something new and exciting to add to my salads š

What a great contest!!!
I love cinnamon pita chips!
The sugar pitta chips sounds yummers! Glad you had a fab workout.
Good luck with the house hunt! Can the winner automatically get a Murphy cartoon on their banner? Because that would be awesome.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who sweats on the treadmill like that! I am also training for a marathon and the speed workouts are killers. I was thinking about trashing my “easy” run tonight on the treadmill, but you inspired me to do it! yay š
Wow! I LOVE the work they have done, and adore the changes to your website. Custom banners are an awesome thing! Good luck house hunting!
I love getting salad bar salads – all the toppings are so fun and interesting! I totally get salads for the toppings. š
Those cinnamon sugar pitas look GOOD!
Outdoor Yoga sounds so peaceful! I would love to do it if I were in Boston!
whew musta been an kick butt workout!! Good job!
hey! there’s my banner š
Enjoy house hunting! Hope you hit some good luck along the way!
I sweat a ton too, and alwas bring a towel and it ends up soaked! good job on the workout!
I love it when I have unique ingredients like that to add to my salads! Using just raw veggies can sometimes get boring.
I’ve never sweated like that before. Haha. There are definitely the guys at the gym with puddles by their machines though… that weirds me out a bit.
You should do a “House Hunters” post!
Love those pita chips they look so good. The yoga sounds like a good time and something different.
I love that you posted pictures of your sweat on the treadmill! Too funny! I always feel so good when I sweat all over the equipment at the gym – like I accomplished something! After I pat myself on the back for a job well done, I clean it up…hmm, apparently sweating on the equipment grosses other people out! š
I would like a custom banner! Great giveaway idea!
My goodness, you weren’t exaggerating about your being a sweaty mess! haha Btw, that salad looks ridiculously good. LOVE tofu in salads!
I never have luck at raffles, but I still donated for the cause. š
That is a great idea with the banner!!! Good luck with house hunting!
I’m so excited about the raffle for the banner. I want a new banner so bad and would love to work with a great company to figure one out.
Good luck with your running. Your kicking butt so far!
I just want those pita chips….
Whoa–that is an intense workout! And, yet, it sounds like it could be fun–does that make me a little messed up?? š Good work!
Awesome workout! I skipped my speed workout yesterday, but I tried yours today. It was great, it really made me push myself. I did not think I could run 800M @7.4, but you inspired me! Do your workouts come from a plan you got from Team in Training?
@Lauren: Yep!
Ok, I just donated $25 – great cause! & great giveaway š
Do I need to do anything else to let you know I donated?
@Brittany (A Healthy Slice of Life): You’re all set! I’ll get a confirmation email of your donation and then I’ll enter you into the raffle. THANK YOU! š
