So, who is Batman? Let me tell you.
As you can probably tell, my sister’s dog, Batman, is a mixed-breed pup. My sister and her husband were curious as to what type of dog they owned, so they had Batman genetically tested to find out. Turns out that he is quite the mutt. Batman is mostly Basenji, Golden Retriever, and Cocker Spaniel with Beagle and Italian Greyhound mixed in. What a weird-o! 😉
In honor of his cousin, Murphy asked me to share this video with you. I guarantee you can’t watch it without laughing! 😆
Breakfast
A pair of super ripe bananas dictated breakfast this morning. They were on their last day, so they were immediately incorporated into banana oatmeal.
In the mix:
- 1 ripe banana
- 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup vanilla soy milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tbsp ground flaxseed meal
- Raisins
- 2 scoops of Barney Butter

That video is hilarious. Really, anything with pugs makes me laugh. They’re like little old men stuck in dog bodies.
Haha, I love that they actually had their dog tested- he’s a cutie though! Love the pic of he and Murphy. And it’s just not oats without a ripe banana!

Love the Murphy posts! We just got a puppy, well, he’s 4 months old now! He’s a border collie mix, but he’s quite silly looking- his head and face are black, and the rest of his body is white. He’s a rescue dog and I don’t think they ever met the mom (and most certainly never met the dad). I love my mutt!
I watched that video at least 3 times in a row the first time I saw it. I’ve got a Pug and now I would love for him to scream Batman 🙂
I’ve always wanted to have my blue-eyed 15-1/2 yo beauty tested by haven’t. I’ve always guessed mostly basenji, which she really looks like and has all the characteristics (no doggie smell, chortles, very feline) of. I’d also guess IG or whippet in there too. Our first dog was a husky/cocker mix. I love mutts; healthy and loving companions. Batman is such a cutie (and of course, Murphy is too)!
Batman is adorable (as is his name!!!). I have a mutt, Toby! He is some sort of corgi/terrier mix. I wouldn’t trade his mutt-ness for anything! I think it contributes to his unique personality! ;0)
We own a black lab + pitbull mix. People always think she is so scary looking but she is the biggest WUSS ever!
Just curious…do you know which genetic testing service they used? We always go back and forth as to what we think our dog is mixed with! He’s mostly boxer but there’s something else there that we just can’t put our fingers on 🙂
I’ve become obsessed with ground flaxmeal recently! I’ve yet to try putting it in oatmeal, though. Mostly I’mmixing it with vegan chocolate spread and eating the mixture with a spoon 😉
I didn’t know you could get a dog genetically tested to find out the breeed. Does that help you to know about potential health concerns?

Okay that video is very funny. At first I didn’t get what he was saying, but then when it was perfectly timed to the music, it fit perfectly, and was hilarious.

My family dog is a purebred Chesapeake Bay Retriever, and my sister has a purebred Shih-Tzu. Before that, however, we had a lovable pound mutt who was half Black Lab and half Blue-Tick hound. I don’t have a pet of my own yet (I’ve decided to wait until we’re living in a place with more of a back yard area), but I’ve always wanted a Golden Retriever or a Pug. 😀

That is a very strange mix but a very cute dog! All of the dogs my family has owned have been mixed breeds – one was a St Bernard collie cross, one was a pomeranian-terrier cross, and I have no idea what the third was but it was black!
You’re making me regret not getting bananas at the grocery this week. I thought we were heading back into summer and decided this wouldn’t be an oats week but… it’s chilly and grey this morning!
My mother in law owns a Jack, but when we finally get our dog, we’re getting a purebred Australian Shepherd. Let’s hear it for child herding dogs! I’m sure my son and the dog will keep each other VERY busy! Right now, though, it’s just two cats. A solid black and a bengal.
We own a pure breed chinese crested (powderpuff version) and a pure breed mix of a pomeranian chihuahua (pomchi). The funny thing is we got them at the Humane society because the people who bought them didn’t want them. We love them to bits and got two $600 dogs for $180 total. 🙂
That video was so cute! I have a pug and boxer mix! He is quite the cutie..he has the tail and body of a pug and the eyes..but then he is muscular and fast like a boxer!

Our pups are both mutts – Sophie is a “designer” mutt, Pekingese and Cairn terrier. Cosmo is a mystery dog. Three different people at the shelter called him three different things – a “rat terrier mix,” a “fox terrier mix” and a “Jack Russell mix.” Our vet thinks rat terrier and chihuahua? Perhaps genetic testing could help us 🙂

We just rescued the cutest English Setter Mix, I think he also has some Golden Retreiver. He is so laid back. He is a really great dog.
I’ve been thinking about selling Avon … I’d be interested to hear your sister’s thoughts on it once she gets some time under her belt. It seems like a fun way to get some extra cash.
Bowser is pure Miniature Schnauzer, but my parents have Pooka (part Chow, part Shepherd, part … whatever) and Ozzy (part Australian Shepherd and part Schnauzer.) I need to try to get them to do DNA testing, especially on Pooka … I would love to see what else he’s got mixed in there!
Batman is such a cutie – just goes to show that mutts can be just as attractive as the purebreds :).
My husband and I have a mixed breed, and have contemplated getting the genetic test… I’m intrigued!

Pippin is mostly Golden Retriever/Labrador but she’s got some chow in her too!
My dog Darcy is half pug, half dachchund. Sounds weird, but she’s super cute and the love of my life!
I have two jack russell mixes, they are both rescues. One is blind, he was shot with a shot gun before he was found on the Ohiio West Virgina border. they are the two most wonderful engergetic cuddle monsters ever. Love the pug video, laughed so hard I almost cried!!!
We have a Chihuahua/Jack Russel mix, he is pretty darn cute.
The shelter said my dog was probably pointer-whippet, but I think she also has pit bull, chihuahua, collie, and dalmation based on her funny quirks 😛
We could never figure out exactly what breeds my dog had, but we narrowed it down to German shepard, collie and chow (he had a purple tongue!)
Since that was too complicated, my dad would always say he was a “Belgian Waffle Hound.” And people would believe it!
I love mutts. I rescued my pup, Owen, about a year and a half ago from a shelter in TN. I was told he is a beagle and australian shepard mix, but I’ve never done the test. He looks like a 40-lb cross-eyed clown, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Otto is a mutt. He’s pretty much equal parts of Lab, Golden, Chow, and Bernese Mountain Dog. He resembles a purebred Flat Coat, but he is a Heinz 57 dog!
We have a black lab that we adopted about a year ago– we think he’s part Chesapeake Bay retriever also, because he as curly hair on his bum!
My mother has three mutts! A border collie mix, a regular collie mix and a pug/lab mix..or so we think…Mutts are the best! I think Batman is so adorable!

I just saw that video for the first time about a week ago! My husband and I could not stop laughing! We don’t have a dog of our own right now since we live in a condo (w/ a tiny tiny side yard), but can’t wait to get one once we get into a bigger place w/ a yard. I love dogs! Growing up my family always had 2, and then later 3 dogs at a time.
