Boy, do I have some exciting news for you guys. But, first things first: breakfast!
Breakfast
I rocked the Kodiak Protein Pancake for breakfast again this morning. I love how soft and fluffy it is. The vanilla flavor (from the protein powder)Ā is pretty awesome, too.
I topped my pancake with banana slices and maple syrup.
And, of course, I enjoyed a glass of iced coffee. I can’t start my day without one!
Ok, ready for my news?
A few weeks ago, I received this email from the PR folks at Bella Sera Wines:
On behalf of Bella Sera Wines, Emmy Award winning chef and best-selling cookbook author Giada De Laurentiis will be at St. Anthony’s Feast in Boston’s North End on August 27th, conducting a live cooking demonstration and hosting a book signing.Ā Ā Would you be interested in coming out to the event in the morning on Saturday, August 27th and speaking with Giada?
Did you catch that last part?!? Umm⦠YES, I would like to speak with Giada!!! What a cool opportunity!
So, tomorrow morning, I have 15 minutes to speak with Giada. I’m sort of freaking out, but I’m really excited at the same time. I have a few questions in mind to ask her, but if you guys have questions, please let me know and I will ask her!
Question of the Day
What would you ask Giada?
P.S. The winner of my CNC t-shirt giveaway is Aine @ Something to Chew Over! Congrats, Aine! Please email me at tina@carrotsncake.comĀ with your mailing address and choice of t-shirt!

I would ask her what her favorite show that does does/did is! Food Network Star? Giada at home? Everyday Italian? Being the voice of Paulette on Handy Manny? š
Ooh, I love Giada, she’s my favorite Food Network personality!
I’d ask her how she stays so darn skinny after she cooks all of that delicious food! J/K, I wouldn’t want to sound rude.
I would genuinely be curious if she sticks to a certain workout regimen or something though.
How exciting! Ask her what her favorite ingredient is? Or what is her favorite type of food other than Italian? Good luck! Can’t wait to hear about it.
I would ask her how see can manage to take the BIGGEST bites of food without even getting a crumb on the outside of her mouth? I know there has to be some sort of talent to it!
OOOH….how exciting!!!!! I’d just ask her to say “ricotta” over and over, because I love her italian pronounciations. Sounds just like my friend Carlo’s Mama! (I’m not kidding!!! It really does! : ) ) Enjoy, can’t wait to read all about it!!!
That is so cool!! I would ask her how she manages to stay so thin while cooking so much. Does she sit down for 3 “square” meals, or does she just sample throughout the day?
Have fun!!
You’re gonna have a blast! If I get into Boston early enough tomorrow perhaps I’ll come see the demo!
I would ask her if she looks that good when she cooks at home?! She is beautiful… That’s all I got, have fun!!!
OMG I am sooo jealous!!! I love love Giada! I have followed her since her Everyday Italian show and I just love the girl, she is so adorable and I just love her excitement and joy for food š
I too would also like to know how she stays in such great shape? I’ve read before that she’s all about portion control, which I get, but does she ever have some days where she just throws portion control out the window and go crazy?! I’d also like to know what she does for exercise?
And I’ve always wondered if she ever gets nervous in front of the camera or live audience? If she ever hits a road block with creating recipes? And if her success ever gets frightening to her in having to live up to so many expectations?
What an AWESOME opportunity!
Ask her what nail polish she uses. She always has the same nude/beige polish on her shows and it’s adorable& classy. Whenever my husband and I watch her I’m like “look at her nails, I love them!” and he replies, “oh you’re looking at her NAILS??” He has a crush on her.
@Christina: I totally notice her nails every time too! Haha!
I always notice too – it’s OPI Bubble Bath. I think I read it on her website.@Tracy:
That is amazing! She seems like such a nice person off camera too. I can’t wait to hear how it went!
How awesome! What an experience that will be…I would ask her what she typically cooks for her family during the week… like I wonder if she ever makes a hot dog or hamburger?!
Oh wow what an amazing opportunity! I can’t wait to read about it. š
I am so jealous! Giada is (one of) my idols!
I would ask her how she stays so gorgeous and thin!!!
What a coincidence! I saw her for the first time today on the Food Network while I was working out at the gym. If I hadn’t, I would have absolutely no idea who she is!! She was cooking with kids – not sure if that is her usual gig or not. Most of the food she made looked delicious except she made these cheese and macaroni cups that did not look too appealing to me (although given the ingredients that were in them they probably were good!)
Have fun!! Hope you get some good questions!
I wonder what she would be doing if she wasn’t a chef? What would you want to do if you weren’t a blogger?
I would like to ask her why she feels the need to put an Italian accent only on Italian ingredients, and why she feels the need to wear low-cut shirts on a COOKING show? Cooking shows are for cups of milk, not bags.
Just sayin’ š
@Lacey @ Lake Life: She is fluent in Italian, so why wouldn’t she say the Italian correctly? It would be like if you pronounced an American ingredient… wouldn’t you say it with an American accent??
@Lacey @ Lake Life: This is too funny! lol. even i’ve wondered that… bruschetta, mozzarella. so funnY!
@Lacey @ Lake Life: Lacey – I don’t speak Italian but I am Italian and my great grandfather was from Italy. Everyone in my family speaks the same way Giada does when we talk about Italian food. It’s just what we heard growing up and it’s carried on throughout the generations. I’m sure other people think it’s really strange!
I love Giada. I too, noticed that as her show on the network progressed, the low-cut shirts increased – I imagine it was the network’s idea.
COOLEST THING EVER.
I would ask her about her career path, when she discovered her passion, and what challenges she faced to get there. Just because I’m struggling to get to where I want to be right now too:)
Good luck Tina!
oh man, she is my favorite! so jealous! i’d ask her what she likes to watch on tv, since i always watch her.
Love her! Can’t wait to read about your encounter.
How does she stay so thin
How exciting! I got to see Giada recently at the Sicilian Festival in San Diego. She’s so stunning in person. Can’t wait to hear how it went!
You are so lucky man… she is one of my favorite Chefs!
Okay, you need to ask her this on behalf of all women. All those little bites she takes of her food, is that all she eats or does she really eat more? How does she look so fit when she uses a good amount of oil/butter in her food? I”m curious! If you think about it, she really is the best looking chef on foodnetwork who is pretty as well as in shape.
I would ask her to describe her perfect day from beginning to end and maybe tell something fun that no one would suspect about her – like a fun fact. SO COOL that you get to meet her.
Ahhhhhhh I love Giada!! Can’t wait to hear all about this!
Hope you had a fabulous time meeting Giada š She seems like such a sweetheart!
