Hey, hey! Happy Friday!

Thanks for all of your well wishes on yesterday’s post. You guys are the best. Truthfully, I still feel like garbage, but I am better today than the day before (thanks to some serious steroids), so, hopefully, things will keep improving. Anyway, I haven’t done a What I’m Loving Lately post in awhile, so here is another edition! Enjoy!

Candy Corn and White Chocolate Softbatch Cookies. I haven’t actually made these cookies (yet!), but, wow, they look amazing. I just want to bite right into one. The stuff that Averie bakes is RIDICULOUS! If you’ve never checked out her blog, you really should. There are some incredible-looking recipes on it!

candy corn cookies.. I'm so making these, but only once a year!

DIY baby costumes. Some of these are genius, and Quinn is going to be one of them for Halloween! Any guesses which one?

Unimpressed pugs in costumes. Related: Murphy is going to be a frog this year for Halloween and he’s modeling his costume on MarthaStewart.com. He’s so fancy.

Psychics. I was recently offered a free reading over the phone through PsychicSource.com and it was really fun. The psychic I spoke with told me all sorts of crazy things. Here are some of them””we’ll see if they actually happen!

  • I asked her about my UC. She says my symptoms will calm down around the holidays. (I sure hope so!) She said the disease started because of something I ingested (she mentioned bad spinach or lettuce) and now my gut bacteria is out of whack. She also said a lot of my symptoms are related to stress. Obviously this woman is not a doctor, but I found it kind of interesting that she came up with this much info for probably not knowing all that much about UC. On the flipside, she said I shouldn’t go on Remicade and the answer to my health issues is much more simple. She said I should get a second opinion and a female doctor would ultimately help me.
  • The psychic said we’ll move to a new house in the next year. We definitely want to move (our house feels SO SMALL now), but we aren’t thinking about moving for a little while. We’ve started looking at houses, but I don’t think we’ll actually make any moves in the next year or so. (Building up on our current house was basically a no-go after we crunched the numbers and realized how much work it would take!)
  • The psychic said I “push myself too hard” and I need to “better pace myself.” Yes, true. I know I’m a freak. But, she said I’m a “go-getter,” and I will “never fail” when it comes to my career. Isn’t that nice of her to say?
  • She said there is another “soul” waiting for us if we want another child.

Window shopping on Target.com. I was randomly looking on Target.com yesterday (did you hear they have free shipping on EVERYTHING right now??), and I stumbled upon all sorts of fun goodies: Pug-opoly (for the pug obsessed), adorable rain boots (mine need to be replaced ASAP), and this sweater. What do you think? Mini shopping spree?

This video. It’s pretty much all I want in life.

Reebok CrossFit High Impact Bra

I went to Reebok HQ last week and did some shopping in their store. (Everything is 40% off!) I went there with my friend Kerrie, who needed new kicks, but I have more than enough workout gear, so I was just along for the ride. But, I stumbled upon a very Lululemon-esque sports bra and just had to try it on. I’m still in between sports bra sizes, so I figured why not. Well, to my surprise, it FIT SO WELL, and I lovvvvvve it! It’s super comfy, flattering, and it comes up high on the chest, so you don’t have crazy cleavage when you’re working out. (You ladies with big boobs know what I’m talking about!)

Healthy Decadence for One: Single Serving Breakfast and Dessert Recipes, a new e-cookbook that my friend Lauren recently published. Breakfast and dessert are my favorite meals of the day (yes, dessert counts as a meal), so I was pumped when she offered to send me a copy. Some deliciousness from inside: Cinnamon Raisin Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce, Carrot Cake Pancakes with Cream Cheese Glaze, Paleo Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie, Coffee[cup]cake, and Cheesy Chipotle Pumpkin Grits with Poached Egg. Yummmm! I can’t wait to try her recipes!

  1. Tina, I just have to share. I just started reading the book Wheat Belly and one of the things it claims grain free can cure is UC. Maybe this is the simple solution the psychic is thinking of. Maybe it’s worth a try. I sure do hope you feel better soon no matter what you choose to do. One of my friends has UC and man are those flares terrible. I feel for you. Good luck and prayers your way!!

  2. I have had a reading, it was fun! Not crazy spot-on, but it was fascinating anyway. I really like having my friend do Tarot cards too! I am prego, so going (original I know) as a PUMPKIN! However I live in Hawaii so I also think I might rock one night out as a beach ball.

  3. Hi Tina – I love your blog and read it regularly. I just feel compelled to comment here because of what you wrote about perhaps curing your UC is “much simpler” than you think. I have read so many powerful testimonials of those who have suffered from colitis and changed their diet. I notice you eat a lot of dairy and meat. Dairy is extremely inflammatory – I would be so interested to see you just try out a vegan diet (raw vegan even better – I think things would clear up amazingly FAST, you’d be shocked) and document your journey along the way. I know that would be quite a drastic change for you but there is so much evidence showing ‘why not’?! You could be another success story, I really believe that. Just from (vegan) food for thought 🙂

  4. Hi Tina,
I’m a long time reader, love your blog – you are awesome!
My friend healed herself from UC. She is a health coach and health warrior. Check her out: http://rachelswellness.com/
Have you had your stool tested for parasites or candida (yeast overgrowth). These types of imbalances can contribute to UC and a host of other issues. I would look into that.
As for stress, this can definitely trigger onset and also flares. Stress often stems from fears of not being enough or worthy. Women deal with this more so than men. Know that you are enough and worthy of all your successes and are truly a wonderful and blessed human being.
Don’t be so hard on yourself, just believe in yourself. I have worked through this personally and it’s made a huge difference in my own physical and emotional well-being.
    xoxo, Pam

  5. I made the blondie version of those candy corn cookies (found on averiecooks.com) today and they are really good (and quick and easy). Thanks for posting!

  6. Thanks for linking up my cookies, Tina, and for the super sweet words! Wish I could make and hand-deliver a batch to you! 🙂

I am always on the hunt for great sports bras and most just seem to have one wrong thing that just deal-breaks the entire bra. I need to try that one out. Looks comfy!

Psychics – I totally believe in them, to a point though. And some are more believable than others!

    Happy Halloween!! xoxo
