Good morning! It’s time for another edition of What I’m Loving Lately!

A free product trial from The Honest Company

One of my CrossFit friends actually told me about this free trial from Jessica Alba’s The Honest Company. You can try one of three different product bundles, including super cute diapers and wipes, all-natural, non-toxic personal care and home cleaning products, or a sampling of supplements for your family. Ok, you actually have to pay $5.95 for shipping, but all of the products seem really amazing, so I think it’s worth it. I went with the diapers and wipes for my free trial (I hear you can never have enough with a newborn), and I am excited to see what they’re all about!

Paleo Chocolate Mousse

The other day, I stumbled upon this recipe for Chocolate Mousse with Cinnamon Sautéed Bananas on PaleOMG, and it looked so good, I just had to make it. The chocolate mousse is frickin’ delicious and sooooo easy to make. (I didn’t make the bananas.) You just throw 5 ingredients in your blender/food processor, pour into ramekins, and then let it set in the fridge for a few hours. Easy as that!

This dress

If I wasn’t 40+ weeks pregnant, I‘d want to be rocking this dress right now. And, ok, drinking sangria by the ocean

Homemade Shaving Cream

This is genius: Never Buy Shaving Cream Again With This Prettier Homemade Alternative! Even if you don’t make the cute mason jar pump, the recipe for shaving cream is super simple.

  1. i received an ice cream maker for our wedding and i returned it lol my mom said i could have their that they received 30 years ago. i never got it and i’ve never missed it lol i need to sign up for that free trial of honest company – i’ve heard so many great things about it!

  2. My Grammy gave me an ice cream maker a while ago, but the first attempt didn’t turn out so well. So I need to try again.

My man and I love the diapers from Honest! We signed up not too long after our little guy was born and have been using it since! It’s such a great deal and you can change the shipping dates. Their customer service is fantastic! Especially if you need to exchange diapers for a larger size. And the designs are so cute!!

I also love pool running! Such a fun and good workout! I swam a bit when I was pregnant too!

  3. I have an ice cream maker. It’s great, but not an “omg I can’t live without it” appliance.
That mousse looks fantastic. I bet it would firm up quicker if you blended chia seeds into the recipe too. Mm and a nutritional boost!
Totally random, but I’m loving hard boiled eggs lately. Cold and fast snack.

  4. I love the Honest company! I’m “subscribed” to a monthly Essentials Bundle – I get all of our hand soap, laundry detergent, dishwasher soap, toothpaste, shampoo, and lotion from it. Jessica Alba’s book “The Honest Life” is definitely worth a read now, especially since you have a baby nearly here!

  5. I own an ice cream maker and it’s so much fun! I don’t eat dairy so I often use bananas as a base. Recently I made chocolate banana and strawberry banana and mixed them together. It was almost neopolitan! The trick is keeping the bowl in the freezer so it’s always ready to go. With Baby H arriving soon, it would be a super easy way to have frozen treats all summer. I’m not going to lie, sometimes dinner is banana ice cream 🙂

  6. The Honest Company is GREAT! Especially if you save up for their bundles, great deals and great products. I use the body wash/conditioner on my kids, love the lip balm, use the laundry detergent for the baby/kids clothes. Great products!

Yes to the ice cream maker… do you have a kitchen aid stand mixer? If so, you can buy the ice cream maker attachment, which makes it even easier!

  7. An ice cream maker is awesome! It comes out absolutely delicious! Highly recommend. Hope Baby H. comes soon!! Good luck!

  8. You absolutely need an ice cream maker! I got one for my bday a few years ago and it sat in the box for a year. Then I decided to make the dark chocolate ice cream from Jeni’s cookbook and holy crap!! I can get almost 3 full pints from the recipe for a buck or two under what I’d pay for her pints! YES PLEASE! Plus you can customize to your liking and make new flavors and family and friends love you forever when you share! 😉

  9. Hi! Congrats and I hope you’re hanging in there. I know you’ve heard this plenty of times, but I hope you’re enjoying the time before the baby arrives (as much as possible). The end of pregnancy is hard, but those first few months with a newborn are harder. Also, someone once told me that you will never physically or mentally (when they’re older) be by yourself again… not in a negative way; I hope that makes sense. That really stuck with me and it’s so true! Good luck!

  10. I used it about 3 times when I first received it as a gift about 8 yrs ago. Now it is shoved in the back of my storage room. My advice? Pick one up at a garage sale and when you are done playing with it, sell it, donate it or give it to a friend who wants to play with it for a while.

  11. My husband gave me one for Christmas and I absolutely love it! I don’t make ice-cream everyday (a pint lasts quite a bit for us) but I have loved every batch I’ve made. It does take some prep time, so be aware. You have to pre-freeze the bowl and some recipes call for the mixture/batter to be in the fridge several hours. Once you get it going though, it’s done in no time. I’ve tried both full-dairy and non-dairy recipes and I’ve enjoyed both equally. Just in case, the brand I own is KitchenAid with no complaints at all. The thing I love most about it is that even though some ice-creams call for heavy cream or a lot of sugar, I still control what ingredients go in it and there’s no added preservatives or weird ingredients to worry about.

  12. Ice cream maker = amazing! Seriously it’s so fun to have and then play around making your own delicious flavour combos (healthy or not so much). I love Giada’s recipe for Nutella gelato ….and I made my own killer salted caramel ice cream.

  13. I go back and forth between the baby bundle and the one the essentials bundle. I currently make a lot of my own cleaners, but having those would be really helpful.
Inspired by your blueberry version, I’ve been loving strawberry chia jam, especially on sourdough bread.

  14. Ahhh that paleo chocolate mousse looks delicious! And I’ve always wanted an ice cream maker, but I’m afraid I’ll eat soooo much ice cream! I live alone and I’d be the only one finishing it off!

  15. My parents have an ice cream maker and I always try to make some ice cream when I visit! They are awesome, you should totally think about getting one! Totally checking out the Jessica Alba Honest Company, looks really cool!

  16. That shaving cream mason jar is cute, but I find that just conditioner straight out of the bottle works just great for shaving! And now I want to buy an ice cream maker…

  17. Tina! Just to let you know, you can get all 3 of the sample bundles for free! Mayeb you can still do it even though you requested 1?

    🙂

  18. I’ve been wanting to try out the Honest trial package too. They have some great stuff, but there’s still some other products I’ve been wanting to try from them. I’m curious to hear how you like it!

Mmmm that mousse sounds so good!

As for an ice cream maker, I have mixed feelings about it. I LOVE ice cream, like, LOVE it. But, it’s just another appliance that takes up room, and I feel like I have wayyyy too many appliances and not enough room. Maybe someday when I have the kitchen and house of my dreams with endless amounts of storage, but for now, I’m stickin’ to Ben & Jerry’s. 😉

  19. We have an ice cream maker, but it’s been relegated to the basement… it was good, not GREAT and it took up a ton of space in our freezer (since the bowl is supposed to live there full-time).

If you want a crazy good grilled cheese, try Rattlesnake (I know…). They make one with American, Brie, and Gruyere and it’s reallllly good.

  20. I need to make that chocolate mousse immediately. It’s a rainy day here in Boston (as you know!), it would be the perfect day to do some cooking when I get home!

  21. You do need an ice cream maker! I have one. It is the best thing ever. And it’s cheap. LIke $50 for the simple cuisinart I use. You could also get a freezer bowl for your Kitchen Aid stand mixer if you have one.

  22. The home made shaving cream — I must try along with that chocolate mousse. Yum. The mousse, not the shaving cream, haha!

Congrats on your (upcoming) little man as well 🙂

  23. That chocolate mouse looks amazing! I really want a fro-yo/ice cream maker this summer to try out some of my own recipes! I have a friend who swears by her ice cream maker and makes the best watermelon sorbet in it!

  24. LOVE the homemade shaving lotion! I just use conditioner right now because that seems to work best, but I would definitely make that.
Just bought an ice cream maker for Christmas and we have enjoyed it so far. I got it for a really good price. All I could think about was making cookies and cream, because it’s my favorite flavor and I hadn’t been able to have it for nearly 6 years due to gluten intolerance. Finally, I was able to have some and yum!

  25. I used Honest diapers for overnight (cloth during the day). I’ve found they work the best! FYI they are now sold at Buy Buy Baby in Braintree and Costco!

  26. Totally yes on the ice cream maker! There are a ton of healthy ice cream recipes all over the web! In a pinch, plain yogurt, fresh fruit, raw honey and a few nuts is delicious thrown in there! I have a cuisinart and the freezer bowls live in the freezer ready to go..Best of luck to you! Time goes by so fast..It seems like yesterday I was waiting for my little guy to be born and now he is turning 26! ((hugs))

  27. I love our ice cream maker… tip, sometimes you can pick up one at Goodwill or the likes. We found ours there, practically new in box for like $5. Now the ice cream tub stays in our freezer all the time so we can make ice cream whenever we feel like it!

  28. My sister got me the Kitchenaid ice cream maker attachment as a wedding present (siblings know us so well, right?) and you’ve just reminded me that I don’t use it nearly enough. I know what I’m doing this weekend now, thanks! 😉
