What I’m Loving Lately 64

Hi, friends! Happy FRIDAY to you!

I haven’t written a What I’m Loving Lately post in weeks now, which means I have quite the round-up of fun, cool things to tell you about. Are you ready? Here we go… What I am loving lately!

Magnetic boards in Quinn’s playroom – How cute are these boards?! I got them from Wayfair and there’s a bunch of different ones available, all painted in beautiful watercolors, including a dinosaur, elephant, and whale. They’re just plain adorable, but also perfect for displaying Quinn’s artwork.

Reebok‘s new “25,915 Days” video – As a mom and life-long athlete, it definitely hit home and made me think about how I spend my days. It’s definitely worth a watch!

Being featured in this article (7 Health Bloggers Reveal Their Weight-Loss Secrets) along with some really well-know health and fitness bloggers – What an incredible honor! It totally made my week!

Faucet extender – Q-Man is still too small to reach the faucets in our house to wash his hands, so these faucet extenders are the best invention ever. You should have seen his face the first time he used it. He was so psyched!

How to Fuel for a Marathon or Half Marathon – Great, realistic advice from my friend Anne!

My first weight belt – Five years after starting CrossFit and lifting heavy, I finally bought one! I actually thought I didn’t need a weight belt, so I’d go without or borrow a friend’s when I lifted heavy, but now I realize how much of a difference it makes. I can’t believe I waited so long! I bought a women’s weight belt from Schiek (in purple) that has a narrower fit, and I lovvvve it. I’m so glad I finally decided to buy one!

This article on progesterone helping IBD inflammation – In rats, but still cool!

Chef’n Twist Handheld Spiralizer Vegetable Slicer – I love this thing! It comes with 3 different blades, so you can make thick ribbons, small julienne and large julienne noodles, which means the options are endless. I can’t wait to make all sorts of fun, healthy salads this summer! Thank you, Chef’n!

How to cook salmon 10 different ways – Awesome round-up and super helpful to my cooking fish goal for the year!

Elastic waist jeans (aka “pull-on leggings“) – Ooooh, yes. I’ve received so many compliments on the jeans pictured below, I just had to share my little secret. I actually got them from Stitch Fix, but the brand is Liverpool and they’re similar to maternity jeans, but a lot more flattering. They’re comfy and stylish, so I wear them alllll the time! Just pull ’em up!

Question of the Day

Elastic waist jeans: Yay or nay?

P.S. Thinking about crossing a marathon off your bucket list this year? Here’s how to get an entry to the Chicago Marathon or New York City Marathon!

  1. I really like that watch! I am totally in need of a watch upgrade.

The magnetic boards are super cute, but little magnets and little kids seem like a bad idea. I’d be so worried about one ending up on the ground in in a kid’s mouth.

  2. YES to elastic waist jeans. I’m currently 29 weeks pregnant and can’t fathom going back to the dreaded button and zipper! haha.

  3. Gosh the jeans are super cute!!! I just can’t get over that they would feel like maternity. I think for me when I can’t button my jeans or they feel a little snug when I button them it makes me realize I need to dial it in. So if I wore these I wouldn’t have a gage! Lol!

  4. YESSSSSS to elastic waist jeans. I’m 13 weeks pregnant, so my regular pants don’t really fit right and maternity jeans don’t either. Old Navy had some pull on jeans that are awesome!!

  5. Tina, thank you for featuring Chef’n. I handle the PR with my colleague Liz. We are so thrilled you loved the spiralizer!

  6. I have those same Liverpool jeans from Stitch Fix and was so skeptical when I pulled them out of the box. Now I can’t stop telling people how amazing and comfortable they are. The fabric is still substantial enough to really be jeans, but soft and stretchy enough to be as comfortable as putting on leggings. I just wish they had the exact same style in black!

      1. @Bobbie: that’s strange…I specifically asked for them in black in my last fix and they said they couldn’t find the same style in black. They sent me some other Liverpool jeans in black, but they weren’t the pull on jeggings and definitely did not fit the same way. I sent the back. 🙁

      2. @Bobbie: found the black (and a darker blue than what stitch fix sent me) on Zappos! Wanted to do a little dance, that’s how much I love those jeans.

  7. So excited about the DW discount- I’ve been eyeing the Classy Sheffield for months! This was the little push I needed to just order it already!

  8. Yay on the elastic waist jeans. I actually have the black liverpool version..also from stitch fix! I love them and no one has any idea they are like maternity jeans! ha!

  9. The article on IBD is interesting. Did you experience symptoms while you were pregnant with Quinn (when your progesterone was higher)? If it works, progesterone is a relatively cheep drug!

    1. I had zero symptoms during pregnancy, and it was a glorious 9 months! Although, I took a progesterone-only oral contraceptive after pregnancy and ended up on Remicade– there’s a difference between synthetic and natural progesterone, so who knows??

  10. I actually have the same, or similar, jeans from Stitch Fix! Initially, I thought they were kind of weird and that they’d look terrible on me, and I didn’t wear them much. But now I wear them all the time! They’re so comfortable and easy going!

  11. Progesterone is a hormone that stays high during pregnancy instead of continuing through normal cycles, which may be why your UC symptoms went away while pregnant, eh? Just food for thought! I’m a graduate student studying to be an RDN, so
I found the progesterone IBD article to be very interesting!

  12. Mmm, Antonio’s Pizza (says the pregnant girl craving pizza at 10 AM) Haven’t had them in years!
