What I’m Loving Lately 53

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Hey, guys! How’s it going??

It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these What I’m Loving Lately posts, so I figured it was time for another! Enjoy!

Chris P. Bacon video – This made me laugh so hard!

Huge Fall Sale at Forever 21 – It starts today and goes through Veteran’s Day (11/11) and there are some seriously great deals! Definitely take a look!

Trader Joe’s Brown Rice – This stuff is the best. It takes just 3 minutes to make in the microwave and it comes out so soft and chewy. I eat it almost every day!

21-Day Better Butt Challenge – Love this idea. I’m thinking about starting it next week!

Smoothie hack – Instead of ice cubes, I’ve started adding frozen grapes to my smoothies for some extra nutrients and subtle sweetness.

10 Stylish Lululemon Alternatives – Lots of cute stuff!

Annual rug sale at Home Depot – We scored two rugs there earlier this week! Yay! Our house is slowly coming together!

Christmas shopping – Oh my gosh, I love playing Santa so much! I already bought Quinn two presents– one of which was a set of those big cardboard blocks that I mentioned on CNC the other day. A reader emailed to let me know about a sale on Amazon, so I purchased them right then! I just need to make sure I don’t go overboard on presents. It’s just so fun to shop for our little monkey!

Peanut Butter Puffins – What a blast from the past! I used to eat Peanut Butter Puffins alllllll the time, but I guess I forgot about them until a recent trip to Trader Joe’s. They’re just as delicious as I remembered!

Dolmas – Apparently, I’m really loving Trader Joe’s lately. I stumbled upon these dolmas and just had to buy them. They make a great snack!

In-home massage – What a treat! I recently received a complimentary massage from Zeel, an on-demand/same day service where you can request a licensed therapist to come right to your home. Awesome, right? It’s super easy to schedule online and there are a variety of massage types of choose from (i.e. deep tissue, prenatal, sports, couples, chair).

My therapist, Christine, was excellent. She gave me a wonderful sports massage (complete with a warming pad and relaxing music), which felt especially amazing on my tight, sore muscles after running a half marathon on Sunday.

In addition to individual massage appointments, you can also sign up for a Zeel membership, which includes regular massages and your own massage table. This, of course, makes the whole service even more convenient and takes out the travel time to and from an appointment. I’m a huge fan of Zeel and hope to use it again in the future!

Questions of the Day

Your turn! What’s new and cool? What are YOU loving lately?

  1. Aaww…am I missing something? 🙁 I’m no animal rights activist of anything, but I thought the pig video was actually kind of sad! What is so comical about a handicapped pig? 🙁

  2. Thanks for the tip on the sales! I would love a new rug and there are great cozy sweaters at F21. I’ve been loving a double espresso over ice with a splash of soy. It’s my 2pm go-to with the time change. Ugh.

  3. Puffins, all kinds every kind! love them! Another blast from the past for me has been sunwarrior protein. I’m reviewing and giving some away on my blog tomorrow but I forgot how amazing it is! I am loving the outpouring of support about my mysterious injury.

  4. That IS convenient. Is it a lot more expensive to have the therapist travel to you rather than what you’d pay if you went to a spa? I love the convenience factor for those on a time crunch (although there’s something about the spa experience that can’t be beat).

I am glad you mentioned you’ve bought Christmas gifts already. I somehow fell into a lot of great ideas and have almost 75% of my shopping already done (and people have been giving me a lot of grief for it). But hey, if it frees up time to sit in front of my tree listening to Christmas tunes or allows an extra batch of cookies to be made, I’ll take that over holiday shopping stress!

  5. Good call on the 21 day challenge! I am definitely going to try it out. My fiancé and I did the slam ball workout you posted yesterday and it was great! Quick but tough one,

  6. Peanut butter puffins oh how I miss you! My daughter has a peanut allergy and I haven’t had peanut butter puffins for about 8 years now!!! 🙁

  7. Tina, you used to be such a beer connoisseur and posted about the latest beers you tried and loved. Since I don’t know anything about beer, I always followed your lead…(especially pumpkin beers). You drink no more beer or are you keeping the blog family-friendly?

    1. I’m not much of a beer drinking anymore. After I got pregnant, I guess I lost my taste for it. I’d much rather have a glass of wine! 🙂

  8. I need to try those Dolmas, I had no idea TJ’s sold them! My favorite appetizer. I’m obsessed with PB Puffins too. I heard a rumor there is a pumpkin spice version this year but I haven’t seen them in store!

  9. I’m loving Yasso frozen greek yogurt bars these days! They were on sale so I snagged the Salted Caramel ones, and they are DELISH, and at least a little bit better for you than traditional ice cream.

  10. Hi Tina! Oh nice! I got an in-home Zeel massage when the company first launched in San Francisco, and it was nice not to have to leave my house, that’s for sure. I opted for hard pressure, and boy my therapist put it to me heheh! And Trader Joe’s has dolmas? Okay, that’s worth a trip today!

  11. You’ve made my breakfast choice easier this morning – smoothie 🙂 I just heard your interview on the Girls Gone WOD. It was so strange to hear your voice after reading your blog for a few years. I expected to hear a kiwi accent (even though I know you aren’t from New Zealand-I am ;)).

  12. Frozen grapes are the best! Try adding a few in your next glass of wine. Keeps your wine chilled and a delicious treat is waiting for you at the bottom of the glass 😉
I also add in frozen cherries!

  13. I LOVE peanut butter Puffins and have to ask: has anyone else noticed that the ones from TJ’s taste much better (more peanut-buttery) than those from any other store? Or is it just me? I know the packaging is different – TJ’s boxes are a lot bigger/have more cereal – but I was wondering if anyone’s noticed the difference in taste as well.
Also, I tried the pumpkin spice Puffins – found them at my Kroger. They were ok. PB is still the best!

  14. It’s funny you mentioned about the brown rice. I just got back from Trader Joe’s 5 minutes ago and bought myself a box. What I’m loving lately is TJ’s goat cheese on their fig and olive crisps. To die for.
