Look at this sad pug face! Poor guy. 😕
I bet you’re wondering why Murphy looks like he’s about to cry– well, it’s because his (terrible) parents forgot his first birthday!! 🙁
I knew Murphy’s birthday was close to mine, but, for some reason, I thought it was a few days after. Yesterday, when I went to double-check his actual birthday, I realized that it was last week! 😳 As soon as we realized our mistake, Mal and I wished Murph a happy birthday and gave him lots of hugs and kisses, but we still felt bad for missing it. Although, I’m pretty sure Murphy forgave us as soon as he got a few licks of special birthday peanut butter! 😉
Snack
Mal is on summer vacation, so we started the day by taking a Body Pump class together. Before heading to the gym, I snacked on a banana and a Chobani Greek yogurt. I cannot exercise on an empty stomach. I feel like I have no energy if I don’t eat something.
Workout
As you know, I love Body Pump, but this morning’s class was just so-so. We tried the newest release, Body Pump 74, but I didn’t really enjoy it. A lot of the tracks are dull and sort of weird (both the music and routine). For instance, the song for the back track, No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak,” is remixed in a strange way, which makes the clean and presses totally awkward. Triceps (“3” by Britney Spears) and biceps (“Boom Boom Pow” by Beat Factory) were the only tracks that I really liked on 74. They’re upbeat and fun. The shoulder track was insane– there’s a ton of quick transitions, which kept us moving non-stop. It was actually kind of fun trying to keep up. But, overall, I’m not a fan of 74. Maybe it’ll grow on me?
Breakfast
After Body Pump, Mal and I made a wonderful pancake breakfast. I followed my A Really Good Pancake Recipe, but I used whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose, which made the pancakes really flat– not light and fluffy like previous batches. They tasted fine, but I prefer my pancakes to be cake-like.
On the side, I had a few slices of watermelon.
And, iced coffee with vanilla soy milk.
