Good morning, friends!
Do you want to run the Chicago or New York City Marathon this year, but, unfortunately, didn’t get into the lottery? Well, don’t you fret. There’s a way that you can still run either of these sold out races. Any first-timer marathoners out there? Yes? Both of these marathons are great for first-timers, too! That’s why I’m excited to let all you runners out there know about an opportunity to join Action for Healthy Kids in the movement to create healthier schools and students. If you want to run the Chicago or New York City Marathon in 2016, you can make your miles go further as a member of Team Healthy Kids!
Action for Healthy Kids is a nationwide grassroots network mobilizing school professionals, parents and communities in support of school-based nutrition and physical activity programs that lead to healthier schools where kids are healthy, active and better prepared to learn. Evidence shows that when kids are physically active and eat nutritious foods – especially when incorporated into the school day – they not only learn lifelong healthy habits, but are also more focused in class, show improved attendance and classroom behavior, and demonstrate increased cognition and test scores. Action for Healthy Kids talks all about this in The Learning Connection.
If you decide to join Team Healthy Kids, you are guaranteed a spot in either the Chicago Marathon or New York City Marathon (both if you are ambitious!), free entry ($185 value for Chicago and $210 value for NYC), training, nutrition tips and support from Team Healthy Kids’ running coach, a personalized fundraising page and fundraising support, and a technical running shirt. And, if you tell them Carrots ”˜N’ Cake sent you,you will receive a $25 gift card from Team Healthy Kids. Fundraising minimums apply for each race, and the funds you raise go directly to supporting schools in implementing critical nutrition education and physical activity programs.
