The theme of the day: walk, eat, and meet. Monica, Chandra, and I walked all over Boston, ate delicious food, and met up with a few blog buddies. It was a great day!
We had a slow start to our morning, so we headed straight to lunch as soon as we arrived in the city. The folks at Tossed invited us to try them for lunch.
Tossed offered a great selection of salad, crepe wraps, sandwiches, paninis, and smoothies. I was pretty impressed with their menu.
Ali and Shannon joined us for lunch. It was so, so, so nice to see them!
It took me a little while to decide (several different options sounded delicious), but I eventually chose the Spinach Salad, which was made with baby spinach, shiitake mushrooms, roasted portobello mushrooms, roasted onions, smoked bacon, and croutons with balsamic vinaigrette. The mushrooms were fabulous. Good pick by me!
I also drank a bottle of seltzer with lunch.
After lunch, Chandra, Monica, and I said goodbye to Shannon and Ali and headed out to explore Boston.
On the walk, I satisfied my sweet tooth with a Ghirardelli dark chocolate square.
The three of us started our walk in Copley Square.
Then, strolled through the Public Gardens.
And Boston Common.
We walked by the State House.
And met up with the Freedom Trail.
Which brought us to Quincy Market, where we met Evan! It was great to see him, too!
The four of us wandered into the North End with hopes of stumbling upon Mike’s Pastry. Thankfully, it didn’t take too much effort to find it!
At Mike’s, I ordered a scoop of both coffee and vanilla gelato. Delish!
Finally, our walk took us to the waterfront.
Now, Chandra, Monica, and I are home relaxing. Our plan for the evening is eating take-out Thai food, watching Jersey Shore, and going to bed early. We’re waking up at the butt-crack of dawn for our race tomorrow morning!
