It’s My 2-Year Blog Birthday!

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

That’s right, bloggies! Carrots ”˜N’ Cake turns 2 years old today! My first blog post was on the afternoon of February 3, 2008.

I can’t believe that I’ve been blogging for two years! Time flies when you’re having fun! 😉 It’s even harder to believe that I have photographed just about every meal that I’ve eaten for 2 years! That’s a lot of photos!

In the past year, Carrots ‘N’ Cake has come a long way. A number of amazing opportunities have come about due to a little blog that I started to keep myself on track for my wedding day. Who would have guessed!?! Here are just some of the opportunities that CNC has been fortunate enough to have in the past year:

Carrots ‘N’ Cake wasn’t always Carrots ‘N’ Cake. Be sure to check out the history of my blog and my very first post!

And, what’s really cool about my blog birthday is that it is also National Carrot Cake Day! How’s that for a coincidence?!? It was meant to be! 😀

Having a healthy living blog has been one of the most rewarding projects of my life, and I want to thank all of you who read everyday. You have helped make CNC what it is today! Plus, each of your comments, emails, and conversations motivate me to continue blogging and better myself each and every day! So, thank you readers!!!

In honor of my blog birthday (and National Carrot Cake Day), I made Angela’s 3-Minute Breakfast Carrot Cake. I substituted canned pumpkin for the banana in her recipe– I was hoping for bright orange oats! 😉

I made my Breakfast Carrot Cake last night, let it sit in the fridge, and nuked it in the microwave this morning. It was SO delicious! I ended up adding a scoop of peanut butter to it, too. Mmm!! Excellent blog birthday breakfast! 😀

I also had a yummy iced latte made with vanilla soy milk and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.

My Iced Latte “Secret”

Sooooo, a lot of you have been wondering how I make my delicious, frothy, iced lattes. Well, the secret is about to be revealed! Finally, right?!? 😉

Introducing the mypressi TWIST!!!!!

I am TOTALLY obsessed with this thing!

The mypressi TWIST is a portable espresso machine that is so easy to use. It produces espresso just like a traditional espresso machine, but it’s much more convenient (and portable). The TWIST’s unique “pneumatic engine” requires no external power– it uses standard gas cartridges, like for whipped cream. All you need to do is add ground espresso and hot water, and out comes freshly brewed espresso in no time at all. It’s awe-some!

At first, I thought this contraption seemed really intimidating, but after just one use, it was a piece of cake! Now, I made iced lattes all of the time.

Check out this movie to see how easy the mypressi TWIST is to use.

Win a mypress TWIST

The folks at OpenSky want to help me celebrate my 2-year blog birthday, so they have offered to giveaway 1 mypressi TWIST for free ($149 value)!!! Wahoo! 😀

To Enter: Visit the special mypressi TWIST website and enter your email address. OpenSky will randomly select a winner. After the contest, everyone who doesn’t win the mypressi Twist will receive a 10% off coupon.

Personally, if you like espresso and you’re spending a buttload of money on fancy drinks, you need to have one of these things in your life. The cost-savings alone is amazing!

Off to enjoy my blog birthday!

  1. Happy blog birthday! Your Goodwill post made me want to shop and your Breakfast Carrot Cake photo made me want to eat. Haha, never thought about mixing peanut butter with that – thanks for the idea!

  2. Happy Blog Birthday!!!! And thanks for the tip on Espresso! Even at $149, it’s less than $$ spent on Starbucks and a fancy espresso maker that you would probably have to buy refills for, etc.!

  11. This is definitely one of my fav Carrots N’ Cake posts ever!! I am a pretty new follower so it was great getting to see all of the accomplishments/fun things you’ve been doing for the past year! I have been really wanting (dying) to start a blog myself and this just makes me want to do it more…I wish I had a seminar like you did somewhere around here so I could learn more about it!

Congrats!! A celebration is definitely in order. 🙂

  12. Tina, massive congratulations on everything this blog has brought you. I’m only new to your blog & this was an excellent way for me to get to know you a little better so thank you.

    Happy Birthday

  13. SO, I just got my mypressi in the mail today!! woo hoo! so excited. this is gonna so help my latte problem. BUT i am so confused! what kind of coffee grinds do you use? what do you recommend? I have both regular coffee grounds and espresso grinds. do you do a single shot or double shot? aahh..confusing. there’s a note in the manual fors short shots to save on cartidge use and better single shots (page 9)…have you tried it? also i’m not sure where you buy your extra cartridges, i found this website that has it with free shipping which is pretty sweet!

I know you’re busy but any insight would be reeeeally helpful. I’m afraid to break it!! Thank you!! 🙂
