Traveling Home

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

I’m home! Hooray!

As much as I love traveling, I really love coming home to my guys. I always miss them so much when I’m gone.

[rewind to yesterday morning]

Monica and I both had early flights home, so we arranged for the Super Shuttle to pick us up at the hotel and bring us to the airport.

On the ride, I snacked on a KIND bar. Maybe my stomach was still on East coast time because it wanted to eat ASAP. I couldn’t even wait to get to the airport! Ha!

When we arrived at the airport, Monica and I grabbed bagel egg sandwiches (at a place with a really long line – we figured people knew something we didn’t) and then hit up Seattle’s Best Coffee for iced coffees. Egg-cellent breakfast!

After breakfast, Monica and I both needed to catch our flights, so we said goodbye and headed our separate ways. It was sad. I don’t know when I am going to see her again.

I thought about buying lunch on the plane, but I wasn’t super hungry, so I just snacked.

The flight was 5.5 hours, so I did some blogging (my crap-tastic computer died after 1.5 hours) and magazine reading (Real Simple and Woman’s Health), and before I knew it, I was back home in Boston.

Mal and Murphy picked me up from the airport, so the first thing I did when I saw them was give them the biggest hugs and kisses. I was so happy to see their adorable faces!

Mal planned take-out sushi for Sunday night’s meal, so we placed our order and picked it up on the drive home from the airport.

We ordered pan-seared pork gyoza.

And a bunch of rolls to share.

After dinner, I enjoyed a package of Peanut M&Ms that I snagged from one of the afternoon breaks at BlogHer Food.

Question of the Day

What’s the first thing you do when you get home from a trip?

Besides hugging and kissing my guys, I open the mail and then start unpacking.

  1. You had internet on the flight?? Jealous!

I was never that into Kind bars, but I’ve been really liking the Cranberry Almond flavor (dunked in greek yogurt) lately. Yum!

I check my email (I do that whenever I get home from anywhere, even from the grocery store), unpack, and give my bed a hug. 😛

  2. I normally faceplant on my bed. It’s always so nice to come back to after a trip. I also cuddle my cat, and she won’t leave my side when I leave her for extended periods of time.

Glad you had a safe trip home!

  3. Usually the first thing I want to do is get a shower! I don’t know what it is about traveling but I always feel so gross by the time I get home. I think it’s all the germs that infest airports!

  4. Shower (to get all the “travel” off of me-ha ha), unpack and do a quick load of laundry. I cannot go to bed until I am unpacked!

  5. First thing: I have to start unpacking right away! I cannot stand to just let my clothes sit in the suitcase any longer than necessary. Drives me batty. After I unpack, I have to start a load of laundry and then I relax!!

  6. Murphy is so stinkin cute! What a face!

The first thing I do after a long trip is change into comfy clothes and start unpacking. I love to travel, but I also love my normal routine at home, so I usually can’t wait to be unpacked and have my life back together again!

  7. I wish we had a great take out sushi place. I’d eat there almost EVERY Sunday night.

The first thing I do when I’m home from a trip is unpack. If I don’t do it first thing I literally wont do it for weeks.

  8. Ugh I hate getting home from being out of town. I do anything not to unpack immediately. I usually put that off for as long as possible… I probably do everything but the things that I should do when I get home. Whoops.

  9. Perhaps I am a bit crazy but… as soon as I get home (after saying hello to my husband and dog) is throw my clothes in the washing machine and put all of my stuff away. I don’t feel settled until my bag is unpacked and the laundry is done.

  10. I love the pictures of Mal & Murphy! So cute! I like to unpack, and if it’s a long flight, I like to shower. I’m really not a germ-phob, but there is something about traveling that makes me feel gross.

  11. Killing me with those sushi photos! I was craving sushi earlier, and even came really close to buying some from Trader Joe’s while picking up groceries….I’d rather wait for the real thing, though (which better come soon!).

  12. Unpack dirty clothes and start on laundry. All my other stuff gets unpacked as needed (like toiletries), which means stuff that was packed only for the trip sits in my suitcase on the floor for like a week! Oh, and I have that exact same laptop! Lol

  13. First thing when I walk in the door is change into jammy pants and t-shirt, unload my suitcase because the idea of having to do that later irks me, and then schlump into the couch”¦.all rest for me.

  14. The very first thing I do is find my cat for a kiss and cuddle, so she knows I missed her. Then I’m all about the unpacking! I like to get back to normal as quickly as possible.

My laptop is equally craptastic, it only lasts about an hour unplugged, so frustrating…iPad has fantastic battery life though 🙂
