I’m the owner of Carrots β€˜N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

My weekend started with Happy Hour at Dave and Marie’s house with Mal and Marie. (Dave had to work late.) On our walk over to their house, Mal and I packed up part of our bar and brought it over to share.


We had lots of goodies to contribute to Happy Hour! πŸ˜‰

Before we broke into the booze, we had some puppy playtime with the dogs. Murphy was psyched to stretch his little pug legs. He’s still wound-up from playtime!


To kick-off Happy Hour, Marie and I each enjoyed a cocktail made with Pama Pomegranate Liquor, soda water, and a splash of pomegranate-blueberry juice. It was the perfect drink to start the weekend! πŸ˜‰


Tonight’s dinner was split into 2 courses. First, I had a serving of Mal’s homemade fried rice, which was mixed with red bell peppers, mushrooms, onion, celery, carrots, and chicken sausage. It was AMAZING! Mal thinks the recipe is a “work in progress,” but I really liked it.


In fact, I liked it so much, I helped myself to another serving.


Drink #2 of the evening was a Bloody Mary made with RIPE Bloody Mary Mix. I took me a lot longer to finish this drink. The mix was so thick– I wanted the ice to melt!


The second course of dinner was a cheese smorgasbord!


We had cheese + chicken quesadillas, cheese + onion quesadillas, and mini cheese pita pizzas. Of course, I tried one of each! I love cheese! πŸ˜€


So cheesy!


We dominated the cheese smorgasbord! It had no chance against us! πŸ˜‰


After finishing my Bloody Mary, I switched over to water. Dave, Marie, and I committed to an early Body Pump class in the morning, so I need to be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed in the morning.

  1. I am loving the cheese too! Just curious, have you ever opted for vegan cheese alternatives or do you tend to stick to the real thing?

  2. When you post recipes, (like your oat, spelt, banana, pb, raisin, walnut bfast concoction, which looks so good btw) do you have the caloric value anywhere? I would love to make this but want to count my calories.

  3. I LOVE Pama! I had it once at a charity event, and have been trying to find it since then! Enjoy your weekend =)

  4. Your food always looks amazing! I love how you mix healthy options but aren’t afraid to indulge some times. You have great balance!

  5. Pomegranate liqueur? Yum! Looks like Murphy and the the others were having a blast – don’t think I’ve ever seen so many little doggie streaks of light from moving so fast. Enjoy Body Pump!

    I heart cobalt blue bottles of vodka…Mixed in Raspberry Lemonade is simply my summer favorite! Do Pugs play well with other dogs? I only ask this because it seems like every Pug I have ever been in contact with seem to be very aggresive when it comes to play time with other “non pugs”.. Just wondering!!

  7. @Ashley: I think it all depends how the dog is socialized. Murphy has been around other dogs since he was a tiny pup, so he gets along with all dogs. He’s not aggressive at all.

  8. Oh, cheese. I indulged so much in Paris, and now I miss it! Have to work out which ones are worth getting here in Florence now…

    And you’re making me crave Bloody Marys, even though I’ve never had one!
