Holy crap, June flew by! Clearly, time flies when you’re having fun because it was, by far, my favorite month of 2012. Here are my top posts from June:
Paleo Recipes for Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
My CrossFit box is doing a Paleo challenge right now and everyone who is participating is swapping recipes, so I decided to compile a bunch of my favorites to share. Here are some Paleo recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Enjoy!
What I Ate Growing Up
At Mal’s Super Awesome Birthday Weekend, a few of us started talking about Kool-Aid””probably because of some sort of reference to drinking the “CrossFit Kool-Aid,” which Mal and I have apparently guzzled. The two of us have actually become those annoying people who talk about one thing (CrossFit) all the time to our friends.
Mal’s Super Awesome Birthday Weekend
I’m happy to report that Mal enjoyed a super awesome birthday celebration in Maine this weekend! I rented a house in Old Orchard Beach for Friday and Saturday nights, invited a bunch of friends to stay over, and we celebrated Mal’s 30th birthday to its fullest. Here are some of the highlights from the weekend!
Fitness Bucket List
The other day, Fitfluential asked their ambassadors to create a Fitness Bucket List on Pinterest. I have a Life Bucket List, which includes a number of fitness-related goals, but not a list specifically devoted to all things fitness, so I immediately created one. I mean, how motivating is a Fitness Bucket List?
Back on Track
I pretty much ate and drank my face off this weekend at BlogHer Food. I literally ate all day long for four straight days. Of course, I don’t regret a single bite (it’s all part of the experience), but, even still, I’m ready to get back on track with my healthy eating habits. Here’s how I get back on track.
#32
It’s my birthday! I’m 32 years old young today! I’ve always loved cake. I have to admit, 31 wasn’t my favorite year, especially compared to the year before. Thirty was a big year for me: I ran a marathon, bought a house, and wrote a book, so it’s not surprising that 31 had a tough time living up to it.
How I Spent My 32nd Birthday
Thanks for all of the birthday wishes yesterday! You guys are the best! I started my 32nd birthday the best way I know how””with a Peanut Butter Wonderful iced coffee from Marylou’s! Breakfast For breakfast, Mal took me to Strawberry Fair in Norwell. It’s such an adorable place!
Yappier Hour at the Liberty Hotel
Murphy and I both agree that “Yappier Hour” at the Liberty Hotel was an awesome way to celebrate our birthdays. We both had a fantastic time last night! Over breakfast yesterday morning, Mal and I played 20 Questions to guess what he had planned for my birthday.
Peanut Butter (Wonderful) Iced Coffee
It’s Monday morning and, boy, do I have a treat for you guys! Over the weekend, I figured out how to make peanut butter-flavored iced coffee at home. Oooh, yes, I did. Are you ready for this? Your life might never be the same again.
You Have A Choice
I love this quote. And it reminds me of a conversation I had with Mal a few weeks ago. On the drive home from CrossFit one night, I was bummed about the workout I had just done. I finished and had fun, but I wasn’t especially proud of my performance.
CrossFit Q & A II
I’ve been receiving a ton of questions about CrossFit lately””I love that you guys are so curious about it””so here’s a Q & A that answers some of them.
How I Beat My Sugar Addiction
I’ve been meaning to write this post for awhile now since I finally feel in control of my sugar cravings. I guess you could say it’s been a long journey to kick my sugar habit once and for all. It definitely didn’t happen overnight. In fact, it took me a solid year and a half to truly overcome it.

My favorites were the Paleo recipes and how I beat my sugar addiction!!! Some awesome posts in that list 🙂
Agreed — this went SO FAST! I loved your birthday posts — the bottles with the tags for Mal’s birthday was so great. 🙂 I missed the paleo recipes, so you better believe I’m going to go drool over them now. Yay for a great month.
My favorite post is the one where you wrote about what you ate as a kid. I was the same! If I ate now like I did then, I would weigh 400 pounds!
Happy birthday! And haha, yeah – def need to reign in my sugar addiction 🙂
It was a great month! gotta love your birthday month!
I wanted to see the picture of your EIGHT PACK in your sports bra giveaway! 😉 Looks like another fabulous month in the books!
I think it’s really cute you two talk about crossfit! It seems like such a positive thing for any relationship. Good for you!

I love love love your post on the sugar addiction. Yesterday I took your advice on how to control it and so far so good. 🙂
that picture of pop tarts and swiss cake rolls….it’s making me hungry.
As soon as I saw the title of this post in my GoogleReader, I was all “WAIT, WHAT? June’s over??” Holy cow, this month flewwwwww by.
Love this collection of posts! Totally related to “what I ate growing up” and am currently taking some of your advice from “how I beat my sugar addiction”. Instead of reaching for the sugar, I’m consciously writing down what time it is, how I feel, where I am, etc. Even doing that little bit seems to take my mind of the sugar!
You had some awesome posts this month :D. I loved the “You Have a Choice” one!
Yes, June WAS awesome. SUCH a good month over here too!! 🙂
I must have missed that paleo recipes post the first time around — thanks for reposting! So many good ideas in there. I pinned it for future reference — I’m doing my first ever “Whole30” challenge and am on the lookout for good recipe ideas! I predict lots of these meals in my future. 🙂
June sure did fly by, didn’t it?? It’s true, the older we get, the faster times goes. (I’m 32 also. And I hear it just gets faster.)
