An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

When it comes to celebrating the holidays, my husband has a few rules:

  • No holiday music until Thanksgiving.
  • No eggnog until Thanksgiving.
  • No Christmas tree or decorations until December 1.

Mal wasn’t happy that I broke the eggnog rule a couple of times before Thanksgiving, but he just “looked the other way” when he realized that I started decorating the house yesterday afternoon. I think he secretly wants to start celebrating the holidays now! πŸ˜‰

Baked Eggnog French Toast

Oh, man, breakfast was really something special this morning! πŸ˜€


Last night, while drinking a glass of eggnog, a delicious idea just came to me: Baked Eggnog French Toast. I was so excited, I wanted to make it as soon as possible!

I also knew that Baked Eggnog French Toast would take awhile to cook, so I made it last night and reheated it this morning for breakfast. I also added a huge scoop of plain yogurt to my bowl. Holy yum! Each bite made me think how perfect this dish would be for Christmas morning.



  • 5 pieces of whole wheat bread, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1.5 cups eggnog
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg


  1. Preheat oven to 350*F.
  2. Combine all ingredients (except the bread) in a large bowl. Mix well.
  3. Add bread pieces to the liquid and allow to absorb for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Coat an oven-safe dish with cooking spray.
  5. Pour bread and liquid into baking dish and lightly press down the top with a spatula until flat.
  6. Bake for 55-60 minutes.
  7. Serve with maple syrup, fresh fruit, yogurt, etc.

Holiday Bake Sale

When do you start celebrating the holidays? What do you consider too early?

  1. I love egg nog – have you tried soy nog – its delicious!

    Love the idea to use egg nog to make breakfast – I can only imagine how good that is.

    I agree that Christmas decorations, music, etc. can happen after thanksgiving – otherwise it is just too early.

  2. Your breakfast looks yummy, but I’m trying to lose weight. I’m pretty sure drinking eggnog will make me gain pounds! 8oz of eggnog contains 18 grams of fat!

  3. I’m starting to abide by the line of thinking that spending several hours decoring for ONLY 25 days of cheery decor is not a wise investment in the economy of my time.

    Granted, I haven’t actually FINISHED putting out my decorations, but I have had a few things out for a couple of weeks now, and it def makes me happy in my heart when I see them!

    Then again, I have been working on “Handmade Christmas” since about August….so my apartment has been covered with Christmasy crafts for a while, now.

  4. What a creative idea! Eggnog french toast sounds like a great holiday breakfast. While I was growing up, we always started to put up Christmas decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving. So on my terms, you’re not too early at all πŸ™‚

  5. I’m 100% with Mal on this one. Absolutely no Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. I just bought my first carton of eggnog and I am SO EXCITED to break into it. I will be doing my decorations tomorrow. It always feels like Christmas comes so fast.

  6. People thought I was crazy for listening to Christmas music when I found it the first few days in November. Never too early!! Well..maybe Summer’s a bit too early..but anytime beyond that’s fair game. πŸ˜‰

  7. It’s never too early for Christmas decos! I put mine up the day after Thanksgiving, still need to do some outside lights, but that will have to wait until I go buy timers.

    I love this time of year!

  8. As much as I love Christmas, I never decorate for it before Thanksgiving. I usually don’t put up any decorations for Christmas until Dec. 1st, but I keep them up until the Epithany on January 6th. But hey, to each her own!

  9. Well Thanksgiving is a holiday, so I celebrate that day. But I refuse to acknowledge the Christmas season until December. I hate the oversaturation of the season.

  10. I think the holiday season goes by much too quickly, and we’re all about remembering the reason for the season, so we usually start up with the Christmas music and decorations shortly after Halloween. πŸ™‚

  11. I think after Thanksgiving is the perfect time to start decorating and celebrating…though I am known to bust out the Xmas music way earlier! But I don’t get why other people want to wait so long….it’s such a happy and beautiful time. I say start ASAP!

  12. As far as I’m concerned, noon on Thanksgiving when Santa comes out at the Macy’s parade is the start of Christmas for me! I don’t want to hear, smell, see, or taste anything to do with Christmas before that, but after… game ON πŸ™‚

  14. Oh I can’t wait to decorate for Christmas! I’ve always had a fake tree, and this year my new roomie decided that 24 years of fake Christmas trees is long enough. I’m so stoked, we’re going to a Christmas Tree farm on Wednesday! Ha! I feel like a little kid.

  18. My husband is a massive egg nog fan and he will love that french toast recipe – so perfect!

    Since we often travel back home for the holidays, we feel the need to begin the Christmas celebrating early. Plus we just love any old excuse to listen to Christmas music and hang our decorations. Our neighbors must have thought we were crazy when they saw our door wreathe a week before Thanksgiving.

  19. I was too excited this year…the tree and stockings were up the day before Thanksgving! When it comes to Christmas music, I wait until after Thanksgiving to start listening and singing…it gets a little old by the time Christmas is here, but I love hearing it now!

  20. OMG slap me and call me done! That baked egg nog french toast sounds tooooooooo amazing! Definitely on the weekend’s breakfast list…. but first I must grab some more egg nog. We traditionally have egg nog for Thanksgiving (my fiance hasn’t purchased this item in literally mega years & stroked out at the $3.99/half gallon price he encountered) LOL. I’m definitely making the french toast though.
    I made a pumpkin pie french toast thanksgiving morning… he loved it. Hope he likes this one too!

    PS. watch that mirror on the mantle.. I did that for many years until one day I walked by and CRASH! I thought because it was soooo heavy and seemed quite sturdy there it wouldn’t move… but I was wrong. Took a while but it fell! So be careful! Love the pics of the holiday decor!

    I start decorating the weekend after Thanksgiving!
