Hi, guys! I saw this survey on Paige’s blog the other day and thought it looked like a fun Friday post, so here goes!

1. Run/workout in the heat and humidity or freezing temps and snow?

If you asked me this question a year ago, I would have immediately said heat and humidity, but after running the Boilermaker 15K and the Race for Redemption 5K in the blazing summer heat, I’m all about the freezing temps and snow now. I’d much rather run in cold temps than hot ones!

2. Have washboard abs or flat abs?

Either one is okay with me, but I prefer washboard abs on guys!  😉

3. Dr. Oz or The Doctors?

Dr. Oz! We ate healthy cookies together last December. I’ve also never watched The Doctors.

4. Cardio or strength?

I used to be a Cardio Queen, but now I’m all about the strength training. I love the results.

5. Cravings: Protein or carbs?

It depends. I used to crave sweet carbs all the time, but now I crave “real” food more often. Of course, there are days when all I want is a plate of cookies though!

6. Jillian Michaels or Bob Harper?

Jillian Michaels seems pretty awesome, but I’m going to have to go with Bob Harper for this one. He was super friendly both times I met him and he does CrossFit.

7. Frozen Yogurt or Ice Cream?

I love frozen yogurt (the fun toppings can’t be beat!), but I’d rather eat ice cream, specifically Almond Joy from Kimball’s Farm.

8. To train: Upper body or Lower body?

Tough one. I enjoy training both, but I’m going to go with upper body. It’s more of a challenge for me, but I see more gains there, which is really motivating.

9. Protein powder or food with protein?

I do love my protein powder, but I’m not going to consume it with every meal, ya know? Food with protein typically ends up being a lot more satisfying too.

10. Lunges or squats?

Squats and deadlifts, especially if you want a nice bootay!

11. Sweet or salty?

Sweet! Cake (with frosting) is my favorite food ever!

12. Workout attire: cute or comfy?

Both! Actually, cute, comfy, and functional. I guess I ask for a lot when it comes to workout gear.

13. Body Pump or heavy lifting?

Well, I do kind of like CrossFit, so heavy lifting. Body Pump is great fun, but heaving lifting is so much more exciting. Plus, I like competing with myself to beat my previous 1RM.

14. Yoga or Pilates?

Yoga. I really should do it more often. I always enjoy myself.

15. Nike or Adidas?

Adidas since they own Reebok!

16. Running on the treadmill or outdoors?

I’m a treadmill lover, but now that I no longer have access to one, I’ll go with outdoor running. (I hope I survive winter running. Must not wuss out.)

17. Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s?

Another tough one. I love Trader Joe’s for their prices and fun products, but I enjoy the shopping experience at Whole Foods a lot more. Their hot bar is also pretty amazing.

18. Summer or Winter Olympics?

Summer! I love watching gymnastics!

19. Exercises classes or exercise videos?

I’ve always been a fan of exercise classes. They push me out of my comfort zone, keep me accountable, and motivate me.

Definitely roasted! Such a better flavor!

    JM because she is such an inspiration to me. Strength because of CrossFit duh and TJ’s because I live in NYC and it’s expensive!

  2. I definitely would have said Bob in the past, but I’ve been listening to Jillian’s iTunes podcasts lately, and I’m addicted. She’s really funny! Totally wouldn’t have expected it from the way she comes off (read: mean and scary) on Biggest Loser.

  3. I’ve never done Bob’s workouts but I bet they’re fun. How cool you got to meet him!

    I used to be such a strength person and now I’m more about running. Although I will never give up my beloved strength training either.

  4. Bob Harper! jillian micheals sacres me! haha. I love trader joes because of their food specialities and lower prices but whole foods is better because I have a lot of food allergies. Have a great weekend 🙂

  5. Cute survey! I’ve been meaning to get to this one too. To answer your questions: Strength (used to be cardio also, but something about strength training just makes me feel way more badass). Jillian Michaels, I’m a huge fan of her workout DVD’s when my schedule doesn’t allow me to make it to classes at the gym. And Trader Joe’s all the way. So affordable and delicious!

  6. I love both cardio and strength, but if I could only do one for the rest of my life, I’d go with cardio. It’s tough to be the “runner’s high.” 🙂 And I totally agree with your Trader Joe’s/Whole Foods answer. It always feels so chaotic in TJs, but their prices are much more budget-friendly. And now that I have a Whole Foods nearby, I’ve become obsessed with their hot bar–so good!

  7. Love my cardio but weights are where I really see results and seeing muscles motivate me! I believe in lifting heavy too!

    Since I met and went on Jillian’s fitness cruise two years ago, I’m going to have to choose her; although, I do love Bob..

    Trader Joe’s is my preference. Whole Foods is great and has more choices, but the pricing is what kills me.

  9. Cardio (but I really enjoy strength too – I find it relaxing!) – neither Bob or Jillian but the lesser of the two evils, I’d go with Jillian – Trader Joe’s for sure! I can stretch my dollar there, there are always new products (but also products that disappear way too fast) and right now it’s a pumpkin-palooza! Plus, there are 4 TJ’s location all within 30 minutes of my home, the closest about a 5 minute drive.

    Seriously, I should be TJ’s marketing director because I could come up with so many more reasons to shop there. Although it looks like they’re doing just fine without my services. 😉

  10. Right now, I will say cardio, as I have goals to run some 5Ks and a half-marathon in 2012, but I do love strength!
    I would say its a tie between Jillian and Bob; I own most of their DVDs and love them all for different reasons. I wouldn’t mind meeting both.
    And…I don’t know about the last because I’ve only been to the Whole Foods Co-Op where I live; no TJ’s or Whole Foods Market close by (I wish!)

  11. Strength training because it’s so underappreciated, team BOB all the way, and Whole Foods – I can spend hours (and too much $$) in there just looking at all the amazing products they offer!

  13. Wow you are jacked I love reading this or that posts! It tells a lot about a person. I prefer summer olympics too for the gymnastics. It’s amazing what those girls can do. And totally with you on workout clothes being cute and comfortable. No way am I compromising either!

  14. I’m still just getting into strength training, but I LOVE my cardio and need to get it in at least 4 days a week to feel good and healthy. My moms #1 favorite show is The Biggest Loser and I really do like both of the trainers, but she’s a Jillian fan so I’ll go with that (she’s so strong and motivating!). And I definitely have to say Trader Joe’s. There is so much different/interesting/delicious stuff to find there, its like an adventure every time I go!

  15. Of course I answered every single one of these as I went through. But it is:
    Cardio (until I go back to crossfit)
    Bob – I don’t like being yelled it. It does NOT motivate me.
    Trader Joes – Which answers one of the others. I crave carbs and TJ’s has the most AMAZING cinnamon bread. But I do get on humanely-raised meat kicks and then we frequent Whole Foods.

  16. Im new to working out and have no clue what “functional” workout attire is. I’ve heard of wicking material, but other than that, what should I be looking for? Im running and doing exercise classes.

    Cardio AND strength…no brainer!
    Mr. Harper…for some reason I work out harder when pushed by a guy than a girl
    Whole Foods…I need to try Trader Joe’s more often though!

  19. I did my first plank challenge today- i know im starting a little late and on a friday but its better than never! I did 1:35. Hopefully in 6 weeks ill be at 5 minutes too! Its tough. I love trader joes and whole foods btw- But trader joes esp for their prices. Love all the hot/cold bars at whole foods too!

    I choose strength over cardio any day, but I do love taking brisks walks to clear my head or walking my dog, Cali.
    I thought you meant Joel Harper, hehe. I like Bob Harper too though. Jillian kind of scares me 😉
    I choose Whole Foods as well, I agree it’s a better shopping experience, but I do miss Trader Joe’s. There was one right down the road from me when I lived in Framingham 10 years ago. I really wish we had Trader Joe’s down in South Florida.

  22. Cardio! I need those endorphins. Bob Harper. Whole Foods because they have a much wider variety.

    Soo when I was doing a plank this morning, I could barely make it for a minute…I thought about you and your plank challenge and felt like such a weakling!
